Found this on Kauai. They love their spam on the islands.

OK a few days ago I gotten a huge craving for a can of Spam which I haven't had for years at 12:30 in the morning. So I went over to 7-11 and brought some. Later I brought some more along with corned beef hash after going to the grocery store.

Gag all you want, but Spam is actually made from real meat and only has six ingredients total. The stuff tastes fairly good if you spiced it up and/or fry it as well.

So anyone else here enjoys eating Spam? How do you fix it up?

Damn! You're pregnant? Better get out the test kit.

I'm a guy, so no. However I do get weird cravings from time to time. Now I'm wanting to try Native American pemmican, maybe make some rubbaboo stew with it.

What nobody is asking me what pemmican is yet? I'll give you a hint, it is not jerky.

Without cheating and looking it up, isn't it dried meat with berries and stuff.
OK it's dried lean meat ground into a powder, with rendered fat(tallow) mixed with it. Some Native American tribes also added dried ground berries to it as well.

I tried it a couple times but could never quite acquire the taste for it. It's not really good for you either. The sodium and saturated fat content is really bad per serving. Yeah I get you don't buy Spam for the health benefits but they sure do pack enough into a 2oz serving to last awhile.

Now it has come to my knowledge that some varieties of Spam do contain mechanical separated chicken, like the low sodium one and the spread and some others. Hormel please doing stop that. That stuff does not belong in a decent quality product.

Another thing I wish Hormel would do is make the flavor varieties more widely available. especially in budget food stores and the dollar stores.

After doing some reading and watching some Youtube videos, it seems that some store brands of canned luncheon meat is the same thing as Spam, Pork Shoulder. I'm going to have to buy some to try it out.

Aldi brand is very good. They only have the normal flavor though. I'm 95% certain it used to be a Hormel rebadge, but now it comes from Denmark. It's slightly different than Hormel, but just as good imo. ~$1.80/can.

Personally I think that anything made by Armour Star should be avoided at all cost. And mayo should be illegal as well.

Now I do find that Underwood deviled meat products are decent.

I don't trust opinions of picky eaters or people who can't eat certain food. It means they don't have developed taste palette. There's something wrong with grown adults who don't like or can't eat mayo. I can understand children not liking it since their taste palette isn't as developed but adults should be able to enjoy it.

I'm hardly a picky eater. And mayo does not belong on stuff like decent hamburgers and real ketchup isn't made from tomatoes either.

How did you have it cooked? I usually tell people to cut off a 1/8" or 1/4" slab & fry it up brown & crispy on both sides and then decide if they like it or not.
