well... considering the "old ones" are not nearly as primitive as the tribes in the game it makes sense. I mean if everything you make is comprised of sticks and feathers and then you come across a huge metal door that talks and shines lights I'm willing to bet you'd have no idea what to make of it.

there are still one or two completely isolated peoples on Earth right now that would probably have no idea what to do if they were plopped in a modern society.

No...I can't really explain it without spoilers but there are things that are shown and done that clearly point out the fact that people made it. Yet they still act like its divine intervention or whatever. Even Aloy gets frustrated at them at one point.

Anyway on to other things, the shield weaver armor is seriously OP.

Where do you get the shield Weaver armor? I have yet to buy a new outfit.

Ancient Armory quest reward. Up until I got that I was using the purple Nora stealth armor.

I finished the story now and while I thought the story itself was good, one crucial part of the story was executed very poorly IMO right at the end. Obviously they had to keep it open for a sequel but I thought they could have come up with something that made more sense.

Yea I'm gonna buy the purple Nora stealth outfit soon. I've only got a few main missions to do because I'm probably not gonna do the weapons lodge quests.

Seeing this game makes me realize how far behind I am in completing games and that it is an impossibility to get through them all.

And also, these games all have similarities in movement that are cliche. You have the quick body roll to the side, jogging backwards while aiming and shooting all without tripping.

I remember when PC games were more simulations which operated by consistent rules.

Yeah then they realized how to make games actually fun. Being ultra realistic isn't always fun.

No I have the answers about everything but I am just dumbfounded that so many people act like it's some sort of divine being behind the locked doors in the ruins etc. the worst though is how naive they made the Nora. I know it's by design but even after all that happens they still say dumb shit like "the all mother spoke to you, what did she say?" I was just awestruck at how stupid they are. It's so obvious it's all man made

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

the weps you get from doing the hunters lodge quests are better versions of the shadow weps

How did you ever get through the trial where you have to tie down the glinthawks? I have a burning sun in every other trial but that one is a nightmare.

Just got to the Glinthawks area last night. Man, they are tough but once you get them on the ground its a bit easier. I am really digging this game so far!

Hard point arrows followed by some fire arrows will help you out. Make sure to buy the shadow hunter bow asap.

I'm way behind you guys, even though I started day 1. I had a lost week due to a conference and I'm just getting back into it.

I don't know if it's just me remembering different, but there was an update I applied before starting and I can swear that the textures on characters have been downgraded a bit. This is on the regular PS4, and I noticed it on a couple cutscenes when getting a new mission from an NPC. Not a big deal, just seemed odd.

I overrode my first long neck which was pretty cool. I didn't really grasp the scale of the map until I saw how much was revealed, compared to how much I had already traveled, and saw how much was still waiting to be seen. Looks like I have quite a bit of game ahead of me, which I appreciate.

The mounts seem pretty useless to me, at least currently. You can't pick anything up with them so if you plan on gathering anything you should be walking anyway, and it seems only mildly faster than sprinting anyway.

You will grow to appreciate the mount. Once you have unlimited fast travel unlocked though, you won't need it as much.

Some mounts are nice because they will help fight with you on occasion. Put the Strider between you and a bad guy and as soon as the mount gets hurt it will attack the attacker. I find that over-riding robots in general is a nice way to take out a group of robots.

the mount is nice when hunting for collectibles you can also summon it mid fight to help you out which can be comical

I had a pretty frustrating fight which, like others mentioned, make me wish there was a lock on camera of some kind. I also kept getting caught on trees, ruins, etc while dodging and got cornered by something I couldn't see off screen. The FOV needs to be a bit wider. I didn't notice until I got into more large scale battles but the camera is really zoomed in and its a little annoying.

Anyway, got through the first cauldron and I liked that. Since it was close quarters I did a more stealth approach and found away around the baddies instead of picking them off like I normally do, and it was a nice change of pace in game play style which still worked well.

I'm appreciating the balance in weapons that I currently have, because I'm switching between several different ammo and weapon types in each fight to be the most effective. I initially thought the tripcaster was awkward and not worth bothering with, but it's become quite useful with a lot of enemies. I also like the crafting system, which isn't new by any stretch but I think it's the most well balanced from what I'm used to. Comparing with the last couple Far Cry games, one of the first things I did in those games was to max out all my capacity upgrades, and it was pretty simple to do. In HZD it seems like it's taking longer, and each upgrade feels like a greater accomplishment than it did in farcry. The fact that I also have to craft all my ammo on the fly during fights adds to it as well.

The game says I'm 60% done but it seems like all that is left for me to do is the main story missions. I've done as many errands and side quests as I could, except for the ancient armory and hunting lodge suns quest.

there are 21 main quests, 22 side ones and 14 errands

there are other things that go into % completion besides those, basically anything on the game progress screen counts in some way

Thanks for that. I'll have to go find the side quests I'm missing. I think I've done 16 of the main missions. Sucks that it will be over soon. Guess I can go finish the Witcher 3 and the dlc when I'm finished with this game.

the last i wanna say 4 story missions are quite long, 1 or 2 of them give you a prompt that lets you know you are about to go for a ride and there will be no breaks

after taking a week-long break from this I jumped back into it... finished a couple cauldrons and some minor quests and now I actually have some decent weapon mods that actually do something. being able to override machines helps a lot, but kind of takes away a lot of the challenge. for awhile, I was finding absolutely no good loot, but now it seems like the game feels bad and is being more rewarding.

i think i only have one more tallneck to hack, and then the map is pretty much completely uncovered.
