I should be able to at least try it tomorrow night after work. From what I hear it's quite good. So far the best PS4 exclusive is the Last of Us refresh and Uncharted 4. Infamous was okay, Order 1886 was like 2 hours long, and Driveclub well... let's just say I'm not surprised the developer went belly up. To be fair, though, I haven't even unwrapped Bloodborne.

Really stoked for Horizon though.
You seriously should play Bloodborne like now. I have yet to finish it but I forgot where I left off. Definitely a great game.

Sure enough... can't pick up my game today. Bunch of teases :(

They did that to me with a bunch of movie releases in the past too. They have it scanned in and it flags for a pre-order and then it gets put into the system as ready for pickup lol.

I'm assuming that is 4K with HDR? I'd be curious to see the comparison pics.

Unfortunately you can't capture HDR through pictures. Many have tried for HDR movies to show comparison shots and it never looks the same as it does in person. Either way the game looks fantastic visually.

I'm going to pick this up this weekend. I'm too busy to play it right now anyhow. I would take advantage of target's B2G1 deal but I don't think I'm willing to pay full price for Gravity Rush 2 and Yakuza 0 which are the only other two titles I have yet to play and would consider.

I thought Bloodborne was way better than The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, and I loved those two games also. Bloodborne was a 105 hour game for me while also factoring in the roughly 10 hour DLC (which is also outstanding). It is my favorite game I have played since Skyrim back in 2011.

Supposedly Gamestop was selling them at 9:00 last night I guess they need any advantage they can get these days. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they made you buy 2 used games when you bought Horizon.

My Amazon tracking says it is at my local post office, so I should be able to start playing tonight.

Very rarely they will sell a game early if another competitor is doing so in the area. They have to get permission from the District Manager and there is a process where they verify which retailers and locations are breaking street date. This is the first time I heard of it in a very long while.

I know someone in NYC who got it last night at 9pm from Game Stop. He wouldn't STFU about how good it is last night lol.

So, if you were to describe this game, how would you do it? I've seen a few videos on it, but I guess I'm not 100% sure if I'd like it. It seems like it has a lot of survival game elements in it, and I've never been a huge fan of those games.

It kind of reminds me of Tomb Raider with like a Shadows of the Colossus vibe...

I feel the same way but I ended up buying it anyway. I'll decide for myself soon enough. If not I can just trade it in.

everyone's different, souls based games combat system is an instant pass from me, cant stand it

And I thought I was the only one that hated those games. Played Bloodborne for an hour and never touched it again.

I never could get into the souls games for the same reason. But I pushed myself to play Bloodborne and I actually ended up liking it. It's definitely not for everyone. Kind of like driving a manual in the states.

Usually i would have been at Gamestop last night before midnight for a game like this but I decided to see what people thought of it first. I didn't do that with FFXV and I got burned on that IMO.

Should be able to swing by GS or Best Buy in a little bit to snag a copy. I think the last brand new PS4 game I bought was Fallout 4 in 2015... yeesh

EDIT: scratch that, looks like I did buy Uncharted 4 brand new last year...

Can this game be played with mouse/keyboard?

There are some adapters out there, I almost went with one. Instead however I went with this; https://www.engadget.com/2015/07/27/hori-tactical-assault-commander-4/

I do like it. There is a sniping button that slows down the reticle speed too, to make it easier to hit targets. However, not all games allow you to change buttons. In Overwatch I can change buttons in-game to whatever I want (buttons on the setup are hard bound, but using in game options you can change). I want right mouse to be jump, I have always used that, I can in Overwatch. In BF1 you cant change any damn button, its very annoying. I want the side button to be zoom, again I can do this in Overwatch but not BF1. In this game, there are some required tough shots to make, like certain parts of the Dinos. You can change the reticle speed with a button press too which helps. Much easier with this than a gamepad.

As far as the game goes, I am enjoying it. Its very open world. You can level certain aspects of Aloy, craft and build things such as arrows. I do like how you can play as you wish. You can go do certain aspects of the game before you should, you will get killed pretty fast if you aren't the right level with the right gear. Graphically it is gorgeous. Maybe a tick above Uncharted 4, but not by much. They both have huge outside worlds that showcase the graphics. Playing on a PS4 Pro, with a LG 65" OLED with HDR so probably about as good as it can look. The story is ok as well, nothing ground breaking but still unique. I would say anyone with a PS4 and enjoys open world RPG'ish games to get it.

couldn't wait for Update 4.5 to go live and allow external HDD. I had 33 GB free, and the system told me to delete 8GB...so I deleted Ratchet and Clank which was 26GB...and it still told me there wasn't enough room so I deleted The Order 1886 which is 32 GB.

Of the 9 disc based PS4 games I have played, this is the first one that would not let me start it up as soon as I popped in the disc. It told me I had to wait 17 minutes for about 4.5GB to be installed before I could start the game.

On another note...I order pretty much all of my games from Amazon. The majority of my PS4 games have been coming in with the disc flopping around in the box. I've ordered 30+ PS3 games and none of them came flopping around in the box. I've ordered 20+ PS4 games and I would say most of those came flopping around in the box, and most of the ones that didn't were in steel cases or some sort of special packaging (Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration). My guess is that the PS4 boxes are using less plastic, like flimsy water bottles. Anyone else having their PS4 discs flopping around in the box?

I haven't really noticed any issues with my game cases, on either PS4 or Xbox....

I did get to play HZD for a few hours last night and my initial impression was that it was going to be slow getting in, but it did pick up rather quickly. I am running on a first gen PS4 and the graphics look great, even at 1080p. It plays pretty well too with easy character control and good stealth mechanics. The world map seems very rich and I'm sure I'll be able to spend some time wandering around and exploring. The combat isn't revolutionary or anything, but it works and there are multiple ways to approach each encounter.

I'm anxious to get back into it, but that might not happen for a few days--my bosses are away this week and I'm stuck with plenty of overhead.

Played for a short time yesterday and I already love it. I love how as soon as you start the game, you're presented with basically a prologue with no menu or loading time which gets you into the story quickly. Only once that intro is finished do you get to a menu to start a new game. It feels very fluid and not something I remember seeing before.

The game is great looking, there's no doubt, and it's enhanced by the details in the animations of your character and NPCs. You start out playing a short section as a child, and I noticed I almost looked unbalanced when running down stairs quickly... exactly like you'd expect a child to react as they're getting fast enough run but still a little clumsy. Your footing is must more stable when you're older, and those little details in animations are appreciated.

Can't wait to go home and play more.

I wish I could have turned off the subtitles in the intro. Subtitles always seem distracting. I've basically only gotten to the point where she grew up, and the montage and transition from little girl to adult was kind of cliched. I won't be able to play anymore until tomorrow night though. When I get into a game, I like to play it for hours, I am not one who can pick up a game for 30 minutes to an hour and then just put it down.

I am going to need to toy around with sensitivity and it may take some time in the game before I am comfortable completely turning off the HUD.

I too played up to the point where she is an adult. So far the game runs great and looks beautiful in 4k mode (not sure what resolution it actually runs in on my Ps4 pro but it looks faaaantastic on the 4k with HDR TV) I really enjoyed how as a young girl her movement was awkward. She walked and ran like kids really do at that age. It was cool. I like the voice acting too. I wish I could have played more but I was tired so I figure I will put some time in this evening if the wife leaves me a lone for a bit.
