Hamas accused of torture death of Gaza critic
Of course, there's no way to have peace with a society - Japan in WWII - who was guilty of massive torture, rape, and other war crimes.
Of course, there's no way to have peace with a society - Germany in WWII - who was guilty of massive civilian killing and torture and 'medical experients' and other war crimes.
Except oh wait - with a tiny number of the society gone, Japan has gone on to be an extremely non-violent nation, an ally of the US. Germany, peaceful society, ally of the US.
Would you like to compare the amount of killing and torture by the Palestinians with the amount of Japan and Germany in WWII? They're not comparable.
And yet a few years later - a few months later really - well behaved societies.
The Palestinians are oppressed and almost occupied. They're in economic disaster. Know what allowed the rise of Hitler, scapegoating the Jews? Oppression and economic disaster.
There would have been Jonks towards the end of WWII, insisting there's no way to have peace, not to accept any surrender that leaves their societies intact - we can't trust them not to keep being the torturing barbarians they are. We have to continue to oppress, occupy, impoverish them.
In fact, you wouldn't have been alone - FDR at one point favored destroying Germany's industrial capacity and forcing them to live as an agrarian society.
But you would have been wrong. And you had a lot better argument for them.
You are the problem. It's your treating the Palestinians as sub-human, claiming they can't be reasoned with and can't have peace with them that continues to force the problem.
In probably any conflict, there are those like you, demonizing the enemy and arguing any peace agreement on the basis the other side are barbarians who can't have peace.
You probably would have said the same thing about Egypt before the Camp David accord.
You have rose colored glasses that filter the pressures Israel puts on the Palestinians so that you cannot weight the situation clearly.
I recall the Hatfields and McCoys - there were always family members who were quick to say you couldn't have any peace with those monsters (the other side).
And for a long time people listened to that.
No we'd do better to not listen to you, and get peace, then you can quietly be glad just like the warmongers before you who had the same thing happen when others pursued peace.
