The smell of ozone is still pretty evident. It blew out two circuits, bathroom and living. Looks like everything survived though. I fear damage to the roof, but have no way of knowing with the current storm.

Any suggestions? I hate to call 911 when it's been 10 minutes and there is no evidence of fire or anything. The bathroom REALLY smells of ozone and I've cut power to it. It's even worse, to the point of burning the nostils, in one of the outlets. I assume that the strike ran down the cast iron vent stack of the bathroom.

Just make absolutely sure there's no fire anywhere. You wouldn't want something to smolder and catch the place on fire in the middle of the night.

Well the bathroom probably smells good if there's ozone in it. :p

That's my fear, but I have just as little chance of smothering it as the fire dept, especially if it's in the walls.

Call them and have them come out. They would rather come out now and just check it, then come out later and try to save the remains!

Call the fire department, and if you dont want to do that yet, put a smoke detector in the bathroom temporarily.

Hope your house turns out ok.

It's the same kind of smell you get from a laser printer.

It honestly scared the crap out of us. The dog ran into her cage.

Probably has the same effect as sniffing permanent markers then too ;)

Most will say bleach but that is a by-product. O3 is a VERY strong oxidizer (ORP = >2V! nearly twice of Cl!) and will produce cl and br (OPO) when it contacts olfactory fluids. High volume flow cells used for sterilization of bunker water and captive marine systems can produce outputs > 5% O3 by volume. This will knock a human down quicker than 100 Mike Tyson punches to the groin. Most of these systems use either pure O2 for the source O2 OR air that has been passed through a cascade type regenerative dessicator with dewpoints approaching -100°C.

Get some pix of them scanning. :)

Glad to hear everyone's ok.

There's been some lightning to our north we may sail into - this time of the year those (storms) tend to last through the night.

Me, too! Well, not directly. But it was definitely less than a block away where it struck. I wasn't planning on going outside in the middle of a thunderstorm to go check it out. Scared the sh!t outa me. The small gap between the time you see the flash and hear the lightning was nonexistant.

As far as the fire department can tell, everything is ok. I feel kind of embarassed that there are 4 firemen in our living room just kinda here because of it  .
