He's correct actually, at least from my experience.
Example: Free shipping on system purchase of $400 or more. If a system has original price of $415, and is on sale for $365, you still get free shipping because the original price was at least $400.
Example: 15% off systems priced $1000 or more. If the original price is $1050, and sale price is $850, you can still use the 10% off b'c original price was >$1000.

I don't have any problem with Dell. I rather like them. But their phone system sucks. Luckily all my dealings are corporate and we have direct lines to support.
Although, I am beginning to wonder if we should be switching to another vendor for laptops. These new silver laptops just keep getting worse in my opinion... they moved both the hard drive and pcmcia/smartcard underneath the left palm rest, so some people complain about the vibration from the HD, and it gets really hot if you put a pccard in.

Ok, let me walk you guys through because you seem to be a little slow even with a nice little picture to look at.
The "Unit Price" for the speakers is $349.95, but Dell has a special that brings it down to $297.46.
OMG I GUESS THE $35 off $300 COUPON NO LONGER WORKS HUH??????
You can plainly see that it works. Eligibility of coupons is determined by the INITIAL RETAIL PRICE, not a discounted price.

And you didn't see this before you processed the order? I don't know of any e-commerece that doesn't tell you the exact total while checkout.

$249.56 - $35 off ($300 order, which it was BEFORE all discounts) = $214.56
That's your problem right there. How do you expect to get $35 off $300 if the final total isn't $300?
Once again...

Are you guys stupid? Yes, I believe you guys are. Reread what you just quoted from me. Reread again. See that $300 order, which it was BEFORE all discounts?
For you idiots who don't understand, coupons are applied to prices BEFORE any kind of sales price is introduced. The total price BEFORE all sales was over $300 (hence the reason for the filler, but I don't expect you guys to understand), therefore the coupon WORKS. The $250 is only after other discounts that Dell applied themselves.
Z-5500 Digital Speaker System........$239.20
FlyFan USB Fan (filler)......................$10.36
Sub-Total........................................$249.56
