As a former Dell customer service employee, let me be the first to tell everyone that their Dell phone tree is so bad that Dell employees can not navigate through it. The root cause of the problem is how Dell structure everything. There is not just business and home users. You get breakdowns like business, large business, prefeered business, corporate, home business, etc, etc. Tech is even worse, since there are so many different warranty options, and your warranty determine who you talk to for tech support. The call center I worked at was given 2 full pages of phone numbers on a spreadsheet and we usually had an extra page of shortcuts since you could never find anything on the spreadsheet. Team leaders for the employees would then create cheat sheets for transferring people to common number through to common locations (use Ext XXX, press 2, press 6, press 2). Over half of the calls we received had nothing to do with customer service, since other departments transferred them incorrectly to begin with. Dell would change up the numbers and extension for the department frequently for no reason, which just makes it worse.

I learned the hard way of trying to argue my way about one of my orders for a hard drive.
I used my concession coupon for $100 of 100.01 and I bought items worth totaling 12x.xx before discount. They don't apply my coupon and tells me it's been applied.
I tell them to look at their screen and redo the math.
They tell me it's correct.... At that point I cursed out the CSR and the Supervisor for a good 15 min.
There is no point of trying to argue with them.

Are you guys stupid? Yes, I believe you guys are. Reread what you just quoted from me. Reread again. See that $300 order, which it was BEFORE all discounts?
For you idiots who don't understand, coupons are applied to prices BEFORE any kind of sales price is introduced. The total price BEFORE all sales was over $300 (hence the reason for the filler, but I don't expect you guys to understand), therefore the coupon WORKS. The $250 is only after other discounts that Dell applied themselves.

But doesn't that cancel any of the discounts given by Dell?
Because the $750 off $1500 coupon that we all used before for laptops, you take the original price of the laptop then subtract the $750 from that.
You don't take the dell discounted price, and then subtract $750 from that price. Therefore, by using the $750 off $1500 coupon, it took away any discount originally put on the laptop.
Is Dell doing that here? They are giving you the 35 off 300 from original price, but they aren't giving you those extra discounts?
Can you give us the original prices of the items you bought? That might help us understand the math that's going on here.
