Hollocaust

How come everyone says the Jewish Hollocaust is so terrible and the whole world is familiar with it. (It was really terrible)

But no one hardly ever mentiones the Armenian Hollocaust by the Turks. Which was the most massive killings and slaughters the world has ever seen to this day.

Why?

Native American genocide but no one talks about that since we succeeded. Hitler praised how we eliminated a "inferior" people.

Why do you assume the whole world focuses on the Jewish Hollocaust as one of the worst tragedies ever? The only reason the majority of Americans might think that way is because it's taught that way in our public schools. History outside America and Europe is pretty much restricted to history majors and people who are actually curious. 😛 Though I do remember a little bit of Asian/Eastern history... but Africa? Eastern Europe? The Middle East? Just about nothing. Heck, I think I learned more about China and Japan than I did about Canada and S. America. Sad really. Who knows, maybe I just went to a crappy school.

When you guys learned about the holocaust in school I bet the main thing people remember was that 6 million jews were killed. It seems like nobody remembers all of the deaths in Japan, all of the deaths that Americans, Canadins, and British suffered during that time.

Also....

Does anybody have friends or relatives that wen't through that bullsh!t that care to comment?

Well i've only lived in the USA For 3 years. I'm from Eastern Europe and we learn more about the Armenian Hollocaust and events such as those than the Jewish one.

wrong. the difference is because we didn't put them into camps and starve them to death. we put them on reservations, but most of them died fighting off the army in savage battles such as Little Bighorn and Wounded Knee. It was far less brutal than what happened in German and Austria.

stats:
5 million jewish were executed
6 million other minorities total were executed

we just hear more about the jewish because they were the prime objective to be eliminated, so the jewish numbers were higher. but they were not the biggest casualties.
we didnt care about the people of japan because the japanese were our emeny. we don't mourn enemy losses. w e mourn those innocent like in the POW camps who were starved to death

Oh God

All countries try not to emphasize their faults. We've actually embraced and tried to make ammends for our atrocities, unlike many countries.

Actually, Russians died in far greater numbers during the war...something like 26million.

My grandmother and half of her extended family were killed by the Germans during the holocaust. All those other deaths you mentioned were different. The American, Canadian and British deaths were the result of war, not systematic extermination because of racial or religious reasons.

ill give that, but its probably just because ive experienced more of it in my school. Anything related to Communism, Che, or anything not patriotic in my school is banned. Talk about your beliefs in my school = sent to the principal for a long talk.

not in POW camps. those stats above were the result from german executions. I know the russian casualties were huge, but we were only talking executions here

Well, there were roughly 13 million civilian casualties in russia, IIRC, and most of those were from the germans systematically wiping out the populations in eastern europe -- they wanted to 'clear the land' for german settlers.

Just a question so please don't flame me but didn't the Russians die by mainly Jewish hands at that time?

What? No. What makes you think that?

The mechanization of it and that it was one of the primary motivations for the most destructive war ever plays a big part. It was also one of the largest cases of genocide and to go back to it, the mechanization really separates it from your typical massacre/death march style genocide.

As for the Armenian genocide, you have a pretty big issue with Turkey refusing to admit it happened, which is also a problem since they don't want other countries to acknowledge it either. That is not saying others don't, but Turkey would prefer that they didn't.
