Tripleshot, try this link for info on Cheney: Cheney Profile

Just a little excerpt:

<< Since 1995, Cheney has worked in the private sector, serving as chief executive officer of Halliburton Co., a Texas-based Fortune 500 energy services company specializing in the development of oil and gas production around the world. >>

.... in other words, unlike Bore and Lieberman, he's been out in the real world outside of DC and knows how to deal with real world issues and running a successful business. He's also seen the workings of the White House up close and personal as the secretary of defense.

Frankly, when it comes down to it, Cheney can eat any of the other candidates for lunch when it comes to energy policy and foreign policy/national security matters.

Zuchini, nice try bud, but he said he took the initiative in creating the internet.... which is a flat out lie. He had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of the internet. The most he could argue is that in congress he supported the growth of the internet as a popular medium. The internet was 'created' long before Gore invented the PC. ;) :p

ElFenix, guess i should have phrased that differently:

Bush didn't lose his shirt like a lot of other guys because Daddy's friends saved him.

Zucchini-
Give me a break. He's a liar. You can throw out any www.websters.com definitions you like. He's a liar.

How does it feel to actually believe this oaf?

(Shaking head in disbelief)

What planet did you say you'd been living on????

Yes, i'm very sure that he regrets saying it in a way that could be easily misconstrued. I guess the school system isn't doing its job... people don't even know the definition of "initiative" :(

Red - again, you are confused.

I am neither nearsighted, nor a simpleton. It isn't the least bit out of context - You're right back to defending the liberal.

[edit] Of course he 'regrets' it ... liars always do when caught.

<< Frankly, when it comes down to it, Cheney can eat any of the other candidates for lunch when it comes to energy policy and foreign policy/national security matters. >>

Then, why, oh why didn't Cheney run for president? A possible reason: the wealthy bush family, still privately fuming at Herbert Walker's defeat at the hands of Clinton hook up with the far-right republicans and decide a Bush must ascend the throne to defeat Clinton's protege. Politics. And we lose yet again.

gore is also the man who said that he couldn't pay attention because all he could think about was how fast all that tea he drank was rushing to his bladder.

DanC,
I hate Gore but even I don't believe that he said he invented the internet. There are so many other lies to pick at. Just leave this one alone.

Jelly,

<< why didn't he run for president? >>

Well, anyone can see that the guy is way to abrasive and simply not 'warm and fuzzy' enough to appeal to the masses. In this world of soundbytes and pictures, you need someone that can appeal to people of limited intellect strictly on how they appear.... How else does one explain Clinton?

Besides, just because Cheney is an expert on foreign policy and energy policy does not necesarrily mean he's the right man to be president (I think he'd make a good one, but that's an aside).

Well gee... Zucchini has all the answers to what was happening within BORE's brain.
Get out Websters.com and explain:

"at a press conference, Gore solemnly declared: ?We all know the leopard can?t change his stripes.?" (The Toronto Sun, 11/19/95)

Now THAT was intelligent.

Albert, The Hotel Farmer

"Gore was a son of politics, a child of Washington, where his father served for 32 years as a congressman and a senator. The family residence was an apartment in the elegant Fairfax Hotel, which was owned by a Gore cousin; young Al walked across the street every morning to the Cosmos Club, where a bus picked him up for the ride to Washington?s most elite prep school, St. Alban?s, on the grounds of the Washington Cathedral." - The New Yorker, November 28, 1994.

"I?ll tell you something else my father taught me. He taught me how to clean out hog waste with a shovel and a hose. He taught me how to clear land with a double-bladed ax. He taught me how to plow a steep hillside with a team of mules. He taught me how to take up hay all day long in the hot sun and then, after a dinner break, go over and help the neighbors take up hay before the rain came and spoiled it on the ground." Albert Gore, the Des Moines Register, March 16, 1999.

Tell me those aren't lies.

yes, what is this obession on trying to twist anything you can possibly find into a "lie". Do you get paid everytime you say it or something? Its getting old and does not reflect critical thought.

red, and yea, i did kinda twist that public school thing:) hehe

and no danc, i don't do heavy research into politics. I just saw an obvious blunder and went after it.

I don't know if your qoutes are correct, maybe the gores have several residences, i'll let someone else take this one. Also, if there was a blatent lie(not just statements taken out of context), the main stream media would have jumped on it. Don't give me bull about liberal media on this one.

I knew someone would say that. Not in those words, but that general idea. Gore meant to say that he helped make it easy for the Intenet to become acessible to the masses. What did he say? He invented the Internet. He said something stupid. Fact is, even I would never say something that crazy without at least wanting someone to believe it. In my eyes it is a lie. Not a horrific one, but a lie nonetheless.

I think Gore has just as high of a propensity to bumble as GW does. He also is a very polished speaker and is not easily flustered. GW, is not as polished and get easily flustered. Gore is rude and arrogant, GW just tries to make a point. Both have shortcomings. I think Bush-Cheney is the way to go. Their platform is most in line with what I believe. Isn't that what this election is all about?

pidge,

<< I took the initiative in creating the Internet >>

There is absolutely no possible way this statement can be taken as even remotely true. He was not even around in Washington when the Internet was first 'created' as part of ARPANet and DARNet. Like I said before, had he said 'I took the initiative in furhter developing the internet as a medium', it would have been a stretch of the truth, but at least within the realm of possibility.

Of course, in the grand scheme of things, that statement doesn't mean squat.... but with all these little 'fibs' (like the one he told about the girl in Florida not having a desk) add up to show his true character as that of a polished liar that is so used to his tradecraft that he cannot stop himself from taking these liberties with the truth, even in inconsequential matters.

With all these little lies Bore is telling, he should have his campaign song by the old Fleetwood Mac tune "Little Lies" .... Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies...... I can hear it now :)

Next thing you know, he'll be up there saying thing like "I am not a crook", and "read my lips", and "I did not have improper relations with that woman.... Ms Lewinski" :D
