HL2 Deathmatch:
You start it up and you see an amusing picture of a soldier flinging a toilet at the combine with the gravity gun.
Options are just like other HL2 titles, but you get to pick different skins this time for your player, including combine soldiers, soldiers from the "Follow Freeman" level - male and female, and the super combine soldier, which looks like a storm trooper with one red eye right in the middle of his head.
I didn't see many players playing when I check, but maybe it has changed now. I play with an average of 5 people over the hour that I played.
There are two types of gameplay enabled by servers: Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, where you choose a side: Rebels VS Combine. I only played Deathmatch.
There are 2 levels to play in: Lockdown and Overwatch.
Lockdown is like the prison Nova Prospect in HL2. It's a really fun level. But alas it is plagued. There are no weapons in sight. You start out with the pistol, the machine gun - runs out of ammo quickly, and a grenade,... oh yes and the gravity gun. Many people for the first time just try and have fun with this one by throwing everything in sight at you, but if you're good - you can play catch and counter easily. The game has also has the magnum and rocket launcher, but only in one place, hidden. But the hidden place also has a nice little boobytrap for fun. However, half-way through my playtime, they were no longer availbable for some reason. They just stopped popping up. There seems to be shotgun shells and shock rifle charges, but no shotgun or shock rifle to use them in. There are plenty of things to throw, including those nasty little explosive barrels. Mmm, mmm, good. If more weapons were available, this level would kick more ass that it did.
Overwatch is like the city with one messed up building at the center. I didn't play much of this one, after playing Lockdown for 1 hour. But, from what I saw, rocket launches fall from the sky to come to your aid. Oh and did I mention, you get to aim those rockets just like in the single player campaign - that's uber cool. I also played with the shock rifle before deciding to call it quits after someone killed me with the bow.
Very weird weapon availability, but I see this has a lot of potential. Have fun!🙂
