Wow those latest Fury #'s.

Fury AIR @ stock is same FPS as a 28% OC'd 980 TI (1380mhz)! HOLY COW

Will be interesting to see what Fury Nano and Fury X get. Will show how clocks / shaders matter in this title.

I'm thinking of selling my R9 290 and getting that Titan X.
 
It's actually only king of the hill (in single GPU config) due to it's OC ability vs Fury X.

In the stock form, Fury X has actually got it beat for awhile now, when you factor a lot of games (TPU, Swedeclockers etc).

Add these new games like The Division, Far Cry Primal, Hitman and soon Ashes to the list, Fury X's lead will grow.

As modern games in 2016 replace older games in benchmarks, it will be a clear separation, and OC 980Ti will be needed to maintain parity.

This is the EXACT same scenario as the R290X vs 780Ti in 2014, where the 780Ti had the lead and over time we see the R290X catch up, beat it and now in new games, just so far ahead.

Only in one game I saw FuryX leading 980Ti and it is in Hitman rest either its a wash or Ti leading.The thing is you don't even have to oc 980 Ti that much because the non ref models got you covered.
 
If I have to count games where Ti leads I think the list will be really a lot bigger so yeah 980 Ti is still the top dog in sgpu configs and mind you it is not even the full chip.

I have only commented on the single game, now we are at two games. Im sure the more DX-12 game releases, the more wins will be for the Fury X.

Yay, in DX12 games, the 980Ti wins in games in which DX12 regresses performance compared to DX11. And the 980Ti wins in games in which they are extremely broken at launch in DX12.

The 980Ti doesn't need any justification to stand.

It's the 980Ti, there should be no song and dance defending it. It was the best GPU this generation.... this generation is ending. It will still stay close to the top. The other Maxwell GPUs on the other hand they are screwed for some reason. Not sure what it is that the 980Ti doesn't suffer in DX12 but the other Maxwell GPUs do.
 
So when Nvidia+Tonga regresses in performance its DX12 done the right way?

It's no one's fault but Nvidia's that every time a game has a DX11 and DX12 path, Nvidia gains close to nothing from the DX12 path.

They need to work better with developers to optimize their GPUs for DX12.
Edit: AMD sponsored game, Nvidia sponsored game, the results are the same for Nvidia.

God, those minimums too. Look how they plummet. Even in a game with terrible DX12 performance.

I'll look and see if I can find results in which the GTX 970/980 gain FPS in a DX12 game hold on....

DX12 puts all the efforts on developers. And their first target is GCN 1.1 on Xbox One. Same reason why there is such a difference between GCN 1.1 and 1.0/1.2 on the other side.

Try again in 2-3 years and see how it goes 😉

If you worry about DX12, get a GCN 1.1 card with 8GB. Because then you are console port secured.

They're choking it on vram and bandwidth, still comfortably ahead of the cards they compete with. One sku faltering is your example of bad dx12 implementation ha?

If it was bandwidth the 960 wouldn't be where it is. And VRAM isn't the issue either 🙂

how do you know this? I couldn't find where they said which versions were used. If its 2GB tonga that could be it.

its as fast as a 970 anyway, not exactly a disappointment.

It is comfortably below the 380, where you would expect it to be, no? We know how good the memory compression is on maxwell for saving bandwidth. The lack of dx12 gains on these SKUs you cite is not all that surprising.

What you're suggesting is reasonable. It makes sense. Since XBONE is based off GCN 1.1, those GPUs get an immediate benefit. However, when you compare the Maxwell and Kepler to their direct competitors (price tiers), the performance is REGRESSING.

GCN 1.1 might get the most immediate benefit from DX12 right now. But, GCN, as a whole, regardless if it's DX12 or DX11, benefits much more from console ports compared to Maxwell and Kepler.
 
They should add a toggle to disable Async Compute like in Ashes. This way NV GPUs will not regress in performance in DX12.

So far, the only good DX12 implementation is from Ashes. Disabling Async Compute nets all GPUs a nice gain in DX12. It benefits ALL CPUs too. Hopefully you guys see it clear now that Oxide gives a damn about optimizations for the PC, for both IHVs.

DX12 is "good" when performance actually improves for cards since its only "features" are lower cpu overhead and allowing the gpu to work faster.

When games lose performance it completely defeats the point of DX12.

I think DX 12 actually helps slower CPUs which the TR is already doing.
