I won't call this a big official review...but I've had a chance to play with the monitor for a few hours.....
The review at GamePC hit many points on the head....the screen is very crisp.....much better than the Planar 15" or Dell 15" LCD's that I currently or have had. The colors are very vivid and even at 1280 x 1024, the text is very crisp and readable. The bright whites do indeed have a hint of red which can be toned down via a little color tweaking. The bottom left of the screen is somewhat brighter than the rest of the screen, but not enough to notice unless you were staring at it like me.
I've scrolled white text on black and black text on white........and the results seemed to be almost exactly like a CRT (which I also did the same test.....along with the Dell 15" LCD...which showed much ghosting/blurring. Also, after a few hours of UT2k3 Demo....I can say that it's as good as my 17" Panasonic CRT.
The monitor does indeed seem smaller because of the small side enclosure.....and seems more like a square vs a rectangle. One other little quirk that I noticed is that the satin finish on the face seemed to reflect any light source enough to notice when viewing at an angle.
I haven't had any other 17" LCD's to compare....but all in all, I'm pretty darn happy with this unit. That's not to say that I wouldn't have been happy with another 17" LCD or even a cheaper 19" LCD (I hear that RAD-9's are on sale at Compusa for $599 after $100 rebate this weekend).
The unit is also very sleek and light.
That's all for now!
