Hey, if they want to make themselves look like retards in public, that's perfectly okay with me.

You'd feel the same, of course, if this was a homosexual pride parade, correct?

I was wondering when you would show up. You strike me as one of those idiots that goes to gay pride parades to protest.

If everyone really had that opinion it would be a non issue :). Unfortunatly enough people care enough to say they are bothered by what others are doing.

they need to stop whining and grow up ......

Who, the bigotted christian fundamentalists or homosexuals?

Funny. Calling fundamentalist Christians bigots also makes you a bigot. Ironic also. ;)

No, you thinking you understand Irony is Ironic.

Edit: I just looked up bigot in the OED, and it applys to Fundamentalists, but not my statement, little christian kid. Sorry, you lose.

Bigot
A. n.

{dag}1. a. A hypocritical professor of religion, a hypocrite. b. A superstitious adherent of religion.

1598 SPEGHT Chaucer, Bigin, bigot, superstitious hypocrite [1602 adds or hypocriticall woman]. 1653 URQUHART Rabelais I. xl, He is no bigot or hypocrite. 1656 BLOUNT Glossogr., Bigot (Fr.), an hypocrite, or one that seems much more holy then he is, also a scrupulous or Superstitious fellow. 1664 H. MORE Myst. Iniq. 436 One part of their Church becomes Sotts and Bigots.

2. A person obstinately and unreasonably wedded to a particular religious creed, opinion, or ritual.

1661 COWLEY Cromwell Wks. II. 655 He was rather a well-meaning and deluding Bigot, than a crafty and malicious Impostor. 1741 WATTS Improv. Mind i. Wks. (1813) 14 A dogmatist in religion is not a long way off from a bigot. 1844 STANLEY Arnold II. viii. 13 [Dr. Arnold] was almost equally condemned, in London as a bigot, and in Oxford as a latitudinarian.

b. transf. (Of other than religious opinions.)

1687 CONGREVE Old Bach. I. v, Yet is adored by that bigot Sir Joseph Wittol as the image of valour. 1838 HALLAM Hist. Lit. I. vii. §14 I. 395 Lord Bacon, certainly no bigot to Aristotle. 1863 KINGSLEY Water-Bab. vi. 290 The children of Prometheus are..the bigots, and the bores.

3. Comb., as bigot-maker.

a1720 SHEFFIELD (Dk. Buckhm.) Wks. (1753) II. 155 The best of all the Bigot-makers that ever I read of.

B. adj. [Often merely attrib. use of n.]

1623 LD. HERBERT in Ellis Orig. Lett. I. 298 III. 164 The most common censure, even of the bigot party. 1680 DRYDEN Kind Kpr. Ep. Ded., In a Country more Bigot than ours. 1751 SMOLLETT Per. Pic. lxii, The crazed Tory, the bigot Whig. 1844 KINGLAKE Eothen xxvii. (1878) 345 Old bigot zeal against Christians.

[In OF. Bigot appears first in the romance of Girart de Roussillon (12th c.) as the proper name of some people, apparently of the south of Gaul. Hence already in the 17th c. it was suggested by Caseneuve, that it might be an OF. form of Wisigothus, Visigoth; the relations between the Visigoths of Toulouse who were Arians, and the Franks who were Catholics, being such as readily to attach to the name of the former the connotation of ?detestable foreigner? or ?foreign heretic.? But modern Romanic scholars find phonetic difficulties, besides that there is no evidence that the name Wisigothi was preserved in the vulgar tongue. Slender support to some connexion with the Goths is suggested by the med.L. form Bigothi (Du Cange). Whether the Sp. bigote, moustache, is in any way connected, cannot be decided. According to Wace bigoz, bigos was applied opprobriously by the French to the Normans, which shows that the word had then acquired some connotative force; the legend that it originated in the refusal of Hrolf or Rollo to kiss the foot of Charles the Simple, when, in the words of the 12th c. chronicler, ?lingua Anglica (!!!) respondit Ne se, bi got, quod interpretatur Ne per Deum? (No by God!), is absurdly incongruous with facts. The opprobrious sense in Wace was certainly not that of ?superstitious? or ?hypocrite,? as in later F. and Eng.; materials to show how the latter was developed are wanting, but there is evidence to show that the feminine bigote was subsequently applied in opprobrium to the Beguines (see Beguta, Bigutta, in Du Cange): our first quotation identifies bigot with bigin or beguine. In early times the word became a Norman family name as in Roger Bigod earl of Norfolk.]

Of course not, the two parades have completely different intentions. It's not any different than a bunch of rednecks having a "White Pride" parade; it may be "okay" from a strictly-defined standpoint, but the perception (and reality as well) is that they're racist assholes. Same thing here: these people aren't proud of being straight, they just want a chance to mock gay people.

I'm sure they have a mailing list or something, by the way.

The OP posted flamebait, what'd you expect?
It's not horribly flameridden bait at all.

The flamebaiters are the people who turned this into a "your political affiliation determines your stance on gay sexuality issues".
Oh wait, that was YOU who did that. :)

Right, but plenty of people **cough**therepublicanparty**cough** go out of their way to publicly condemn gayness; the "I'm gay and proud" thing is a reaction to that. There was no such thing as Pride Parades until after the Stonewall riots (which were provoked by constant police raids on gay bars).

don't lump us all in Fausto. That's like saying all Dems volunteer at abortion clinics.

You're gay, fine. My thought, though, is "Why the parade?" It makes no sense.

Right there are plenty of people in the **cough**republicanparty**cough** that don't give a rats ass what gays do like the **cough**vicepresident**cough** and plenty of **cough**demoncrats**cough** that don't follow the gay pride agenda. **cough**JohnKerry**cough** has said he doesn't support Homosexual marriges. To me I don't see why it should even be a issue the federal Government has no reason to be involved in it.

Then you should vote for John Kerry. He has said he doesn't support gay marriage? What does this mean? No federal government involvement. Bush wants to write a ban into the Constitution, very much involving the federal government.

I'm not voting for John Kerry for other reasons I could care less what either party cares about Gay anything. Being gay doesn't make you something special I don't care what people do in their own beds. I think people would accept that fact that gays are a fact of life more if the gays toned down their gay pride parades and just lived like hetros.

Maybe they don't want to? Maybe you live a boring life that they don't want to mimic? Maybe they should have freedom of self expression?

"I would accept you if you just acted like I want you to act..." Give me a break.

It's fine if they don't want to but don't expect people to accept them as a regular part of society. They don?t have to live like I want them to just act like it in public like everyone else does. You seem to think I want them to live a certain way which is untrue, I just want gays to follow the same rules everyone else does when in public. :)

Yeah, pretty much.

America provides the right to be moronic for the sake of sarcasm. I say go for it.

Maybe you shouldn't be so defensive? I read the "just lived like hetereos" remark as do your own thing and go about your everyday life just like the rest of the population. I don't go around throwing my heritage, lifestyle choices, etc... in the public face. Great, your gay....whooptie-fvcking-doo.

I don't think anyone should have the right to have a parade if it is taking up a city street. I don't care if it's a black parade, a gay parade or a circus... Stay the fsck off the busy street cause I've got places to go. Go have a festival in a park or something.
