No he is not done.

We left with be5
He moved his Rook H8-H5

Bf3. Does he know that this game is over?

Bf3 it is.
I wouldn't know if the game was over also.

It's #3 (mate in the 3 moves)

Black can postpone it though, not a guaranteed 3#.
Unless you see a force move I don't

It's all force from here out. He can't go beyond 3 moves. It's been force for a while...I said #7 or #5 a while ago (depending on blacks moves).

It is only forced move once black makes his move. ;) Then it will be force. If Black recognizes it, he can delay it though.

**EDIT**
I mean, really, if black can't recognize how to delay this check mate,

+there is checkmate in 1 move if the guy is too dense to realize even that.

First of all next move is checkmate if black doesn't do something. Then if he moves it correctly Black could invariably force a trade, and make the game last longer, but he can't do much else than that.

No black CAN NOT extend the game. It's impossible. And what I meant with #5 or #7 was if black chose to sac queen for knight it was #5 (totally forced). If black chose to move the king it was #7 (totally forced). Those where the only two choices black had. At that current position black has no MORE than 3 moves left. It's all done. Black can not force any trade beyond a rook for rook, but it will still be #3.

Once the guy makes his mistake.
Bh3
Rg1+
Bf5+
Nf5, His Queen can take the knight / do nothing to try to block your Qg7 mate
Qh6 Mate

This is the delayed version. Queens gambit.

For some reason I am not seeing < 3... unless black make a terrible blunder and doesn't move/protect his rook or if he moves his Queen out of defense.

Not to be a jerk or anything, but it would be wicked funny if the game server crashed right now. I just say that because that has happened to me before in other endeavours.

This is the delayed version.

There is no delayed version.

1. Bf3 Rh7
2. Rg1+ Rg7
3. Rxg7 Qxg7
4. Qxg7#

Layout ANY single move for black and I will get you #3 or less.

Nice! :)

So the only way for black to delay is to move the King (sacrifice the Rook)

This would only delay mate by 1

If black moves the king it's #2. The only king move is Kh7. White just does Qh8, Qxh5#.

King can't move Kh5. It's already mate. The Bishop on f3 backs up the queen so it's mate.

1. Be5 Kh7
2. Qxh8 Kg6
3. Bf3 Qxd6(or any move)
4. Qg7#

So it delays the mate by 1.

That doesn't delay mate by 1. It's been #3 since the Be5 move. We weren't counting the Be5 move.
