Tell your neighbors to get netzero. 10 hours a month is plenty to do homework with, even if they do have stupid teachers that require the web. Any fun stuff, they can do from the library.
Almost any place I can think of has free dial up available (they'll have ads or something on their screen).
Although the Internet is technically a requirement for school these days, broadband is not. They could do perfectly fine with just dialup.
How could they get by on dial-up with those warez servers, MP3 sharing, Usenet servers, and web hosting?

I don't believe that for one second...and if it is true, I'm willing to bet that bandwidth usage is coming from your home and not the '6 not-so-wealth-off people' with which you share your connection. Hell, if they were the problem and you wanted to allow them to conitnue to use your connection you could easily limit the bandwidth available to them.
Either way, you need to cut back on the bandwidth usage big time. I'm an EE and my average weekly bandiwidth use according to DU Meter is 750MB (and much of that bandwidth is not hw related). So, between those 6 poor school children, 650MB a day should be more than plenty.

i seed a few linux distros and occasionally help with storage space for my buddy's photography page. run a UT2003 server at least a week out of every month. combined with my above average internet usage, I do a minimum of 20Gb a day, max out at around 60GB/day. Never had a message from my provider, or even a complaint.
cut off your neighbors, to start. tell them to sign up for netzero's free service if they can't afford internet. 10 hours a month is plenty for homework and email. if they're that hard up, they can live without kazaa.

I feel they need to stop false marketing their product. I mean I own a deticated server and they tell me I have 500gigs a month to work with. Not this unlimited crap then o b the way you used to much its total BS.
As soon as people find a ISP that offers 10mbit down and about 2mbit up with decent prices and honest bandwith limits aroung 5000gigs a month the cable monopoly will END!!!

nanyangview, you are the type of bitch subscriber that ISPs AND their customers are afraid of.. You are SHARING your bandwidth with non-paying subscribers - your neighbors. It's one thing to share bandwidth in your house.. it's another to share it with the neighborhood.
I hate how unlimited does not mean unlimited... But when I once shared my earthlink dialup connection with my friends and we simultaneously used it and I had used more hours than there were in a month, I completely understood when they cancelled my account.
