common man..they are only using PIIs running Win 95 or something like that and the kids need to do homework.

the kids need to go to the library and use the internet.

you're gonna get your cable internet cut off.

That's a crazy mental image. You're responsible for everything they do online... Heck...

There is no reason that even 6 people need to go through 450 gbytes in that amount of time!. I do a lot of downloading, probably of stuff that I should't be, and I've only gone through 250 GBytes since november, (according to DU meter), and that counts local traffic too! You have no grounds for any argument against them, seeing as how you are sharing your internet illegally (or at least contrary to your contract w/ rogers), and unless you are running an internet server where people can get the latest distribution of linux or some other open source software, i gaurantee you are engaging in some sort of illegal file sharing that they could nail you to the wall for.

dude, wake up. they are going to get your account suspended if you dont smarten them up. 450GB's in 12 days is just stupid.

And exactly what kind of hw are they doing that requires downloading at a rate of a terabyte per month?

Don't waste your time doing the " Well..I'll take my buisness elsewhere if you don't let me be". You see, at that rate your costing them more in bandwidth than your fees are covering, so therefore they are doing you a service just by keeping you.

EDIT: Any chance you could move in beside me? I would love to have someone elses bandwidth to mooch off.

He is my idol

ISP's "unlimited" is not the same "unlimited" that you would find in a dictionary

Thats a fact. I got into it with my dialup ISP. they cut me off in the middle of the month and i was beyond pissed. I read their End User Agreement they had online and that is when i learned they redefined 'unlimited'. Their arguement is that 'unlimited' does not mean 24/7 connection.... I dropped them and just dial my work for internet access now.

Common man I may be, but many of us on this board successfully completed our younger days in school without the internet. If they need the web, they can waddle their "not-so-well-off" asses to the library. Then again, you can continue being the moron you are and lose your internet connection.

The choice is yours and you have no grounds on which to bitch about it.

Hey you should feel fortunate. Cox HSI in my area limits our usage to 30 gigs a month down / 10 gigs a month up and 3 gigs down a day / 1 gig a day up max. If you go over that they'll threaten to terminate your service. I switched to DSL after that... I was able to go over 30 gigs a month by myself pretty easily and I share my connection with my roommate (which is not against the TOS). Sharing it with your neighbors is almost definitely against the TOS for your cable internet access though.

By the way, RJ45 is not really the best thing to be using to share Internet connections between homes. Just a word to the wise, most businesses use fiber in between buildings and RJ45 inside buildings because fiber doesn't carry an electrical current. One lightning strike on one of those homes and you could potentially have a surge carried through to all of the people on your network, frying your router, your computer and everyone else's.

(Might want to invest in some surge protectors with RJ45 protection, if you don't already have them).

Well then either their using the computer for more than homework.
Or your using that much, and you need to cut back.

Do the math,
450445 MB? Now either your using that much by yourself, or the people your
sharing it with are. And I don't see how using the computers for homework
uses that much bandwidth.

Why are you being so informative. This would be doing the world a great service.

Jeebus, if you're going to pull $hit like that, get a real internet connection and charge a reasonable price to cover your cost. If you have 6 people sharing off your connection, and you charge the $20-30 a month, you should be able to afford a decent connection that won't chap your ass for doing something like that.

Kill yourself...

Btw, I think he is screwing with us. Notice his engrish goes from engrish to pretty normal at times?

just out of curiosity, wouldn't his internet connection feel like 56K with that many people downloading/uploading stuff?

Who cares. I think you found this letter on some other website, since I've read things similar, and just felt like posting because you were bored.

Actually.....450445MB is 3,603,560,000,000 bits of information that have been used up in the last 12 days. In a 12 day span, there are 1,036,800 seconds in those 12 days. That amounts to 3,475,655.9 bits per second of sustained bandwidth usage (that is to say, on average, for each second the last 12 days you have used 434KB of bandwidth).

That is the equivalent of roughly 64 56K modems running constantly 24/7.
