My sister has a rat terrier. That dog is just hilarious. She is very active and loves to play. No shedding.

it might be mixed with a non-shedding breed (some other terriers are), but i think rat terriers are shedders

oh my god.. so fucking cute... i could pick up mad ladies walking around the park with these little bastards. too bad theyre not fit for my situation

Yeah, if you can't find a puppy/dog on petfinder.com to fall in love with, something has to be wrong with you.

I try to avoid browsing there. Last time, I rescued a mini-doxie when I wasn't planning on adding another dog.

Yes, Bichon Frise is also a good choice, same family as the Havanese (technically it's Bichon Havanese). Only thing is they only come in white and they have curly hair rather than wavy.

i think mine has some poodle in him. his nose is a bit long by bichon standards. his body also seems a bit long.

They are all in the same family from what I understand (Maltese, Havanese, Bichon Frise, Poodle).

So far, very interested in the havanese, though don't know if I'll find one in a rescue type environment.

My gf has a Tibetan terrier that is pretty much all you describe and is great in general. Here's a link.

You are doing that no matter where you get one from. You can get a puppy from a great breeder with perfect parents raise it right and have it still end up an asshole. Pounds/rescues have puppies if you have to have one. Just a bit harder to tell how they will look and how big they will be full grown with a mutt puppy from the pound. I prefer to get a year or two old dog and avoid all the puppy hassles plus their personality is pretty well developed by then so you can tell how they will be. I use to foster for a rescue before I ended up keeping one of them and ever one of them showed up house broken which is a huge plus imo of the older dog.

No, they're generally not shedders. My sister got her dog from a breeder, and the dog has an almost bare belly and a short, relatively thin coat elsewhere. I googled the breed name, and what I read said that the dogs need very little grooming, just a little (very infrequent) brushing.

lol

I don't have any recent ones :(

He's rapidly approaching his 21-26 pound desired weight.

my cat weighs 20lbs

There is another breed out now that's popular with the wealthy...Ashera, they weigh in around 30lbs. Cost $20k+ or about 4x the Savannah. They add a third cross though of domesticated cat + African Serval + Asian Leopard Cat. (the Savannah is the first two only).

short coat usually means the hair is cycled/shedded quite fequently. they dont need grooming bc the hair is constantly falling out :) longer haired dogs need more grooming since it is not consistently shed. they also tend to have less skin oils which reduces allergens.

Wheaten Terrier. Hypoallergenic, no shedding, lovable, cuddly, and just an absolute blast.

I have a Mini Schnauzer, 11 years old today actualy. The most loving affectionate loyal dog I've ever met. Even my friends who don't like dogs admit he's pretty cool. Loveingly help raise my two kids. Always by my side. Best dog ever!

"The Miniature Schnauzer is alert, energetic, and intelligent. They are good-natured, affectionate, and obedient, and they get along well with children. This breed will demand a substantial amount of time and companionship from its owner. They can be somewhat aggressive towards other dogs, and they enjoy putting on a show for an audience. They should be properly trained and socialized from an early age to ensure a stable temperament. They tend to bark a lot and they make good watch dogs. They can sometimes be reserved in the company of strangers."
