Alright thanks!! I'm going with the FX-4170/HD7790. Will you also be able to teach me how to build it once I order the parts

Buy one stick, save up for a second one later on. You won't notice that missing 4GB in any games. If you get heavily into recording while gaming, you may find a need for it, but that can come later on. Right now, you're up against your budget wall, so I'd stick with the current setup. Sacrificing anything else for RAM would be a mistake.

Lol now I really don't know what to do, he says that there's no way he'll let me get 4GB then update. Maybe it's because he wants to do video editing, rendering and recording

You're really asking too much of a budget machine. It's hard to make something that can game and encode video competently on a strict budget. You're going to have to make some compromises.

I was snooping around through other forums and asked the same initial question, and this is what they said, " Besides, that power supply is highly doubtful it will give the power you need. Why? Well that video card alone needs a minimum of a 450 Watt power supply as per manufacture's specs. Second it is PCI-e 3.0 card and your motherboard is limited to 2.0. Third, it may have 3 gigs of DDR5 but it only has a 128-bit interface. A 2 gig card with a 256-bit interface 2.0 will be considerably cheaper and not be a waste of money." sorry but anyone would look for other opinions

Lol he recommends many things but doesn't pay for anything. I was snooping around through other forums and asked the same initial question, and this is what they said,

Short answer, the person(s) who gave you advice on the other forum are misinformed. Long answer to follow:

" Besides, that power supply is highly doubtful it will give the power you need. Why? Well that video card alone needs a minimum of a 450 Watt power supply as per manufacture's specs.

GPU manufacturers have to grossly inflate their PSU power recommendations in order to account for people who have very crappy power supplies that can output their rated wattage. The CX430 does not fall into that category. Your true power draw with the 7790 would be less than 250W.

Second it is PCI-e 3.0 card and your motherboard is limited to 2.0.

Does not matter at all for a single 7790. Even a high-end card like the 7970 barely touches the bandwidth offered by PCIe 3.0.

Third, it may have 3 gigs of DDR5 but it only has a 128-bit interface. A 2 gig card with a 256-bit interface 2.0 will be considerably cheaper and not be a waste of money."

Not sure where the other poster got the idea that the 7790 is a 3GB card. It's a 2GB card. Anyway, comparing a small sub feature like memory bus width is silly. What matters is which card gets the most actual game performance for your money.

If you can get a 7850 within your budget, without completely compromising the rest of your machine, then that's great, but I doubt it will happen.

Downgrade to 1333mhz or 1600mhz. the 1866 isnt worth the cost.

I did as you said, I couldn't find a 1333 so I got a 1600.

See if you can get a 2x4GB kit for the same price. That'll let you run dual-channel which increases your performance a bit. Your mobo has 4 DIMM slots, so getting two modules now won't lock you out of upgrades either.

I'm still looking for one. But my brother says I should wait for DDR4

OK, now he's just giving you bad advice. Even if DDR4 were anywhere close to coming to market, it wouldn't work in today's systems. Furthermore, I still contend that his requirement that you get 8GB is off-base.

I'd stick with the advice you've heard hear already.

Alright thanks. I can't find 2x4GB because it becomes too expensive and I have tried looking for 1x4GB then buying another but it's still too expensive. So I guess the 1x8GB will be fine?
