RAM can be likened to any container. If it isn't filled up, there won't be issues. Simple as that.

I really apologize for posting a link from a rival site but I'm damned confused by all their ideas

Oh, goodness. That second build is really quite unbalanced. The HD6670 is half the speed of the 7790. That's really not want you want for this build. And a 650W power supply? The system won't use more than 200W at max.

Yes I know many people with weird recommendations. Have you checked the link? There are many builds and ideas there and I made a change to the RAM in build 1. I'll buy another later

Totally. I understand. Will try convince my brother or see if I can get money out of him... it's not always the best being the youngest

I don't see why he needs to have any input if he's not willing to front the cash.

I doubt users at this forum have any sense of rivalry with another. It's not like Anandtech is a sports team. These fora are just a place to talk write. lol

Alright so which build have you selected? 1), probably not 2) or one of the builds from the tech spot link?

Build #1 looks good to me. Finalize!

Build #2 is worse in every way except for more memory, from the weaker CPU and (much weaker) GPU right down to the outdated chipset on the motherboard.

Alright finally both forums can agree on something. I'm placing the order in 14-15 hours in case someone changes their mind

I haven't ordered yet because I'm slightly worried that if I want to upgrade some parts, I will have to upgrade the PSU also because it is small in wattage

Well there's been a slight change. This is my build now:

CPU:*AMD FX 4170 Bulldozer Series CPU - 4.2GHz Quad(4) Core, AM3+ Socket,12MB, HyperTran - R1476*http://mo.bidorbuy.co.za/mobile/jsp/bid/Bid.jsp?Trade_TradeId=109591017

Motherboard: MSI AMD 970A-G46 970 Chipset - R1025 *http://mo.bidorbuy.co.za/mobile/jsp/bid/Bid.jsp?Trade_TradeId=107975437&pageViewMode=Description

Memory:*G.Skill F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL (1x 8GB) DDR3-1600MHz 1.5V CL9 Ripjaws Desktop Memory - R847*http://www.wootware.co.za/catalog/product/view/id/11979/

Video Card:*MSI R7770-PMD1GD5 Radeon HD7770 GHZ Edition PCI-E Desktop Graphics Card - R1479*http://www.wootware.co.za/msi-r7770-pmd1gd5-radeon-hd7770-pci-e-desktop-graphics-card.html

Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CX430 V2 430W Power Supply - 80PLUS Certified - R513*http://mo.bidorbuy.co.za/mobile/jsp/bid/Bid.jsp?Trade_TradeId=109592831&pageViewMode=Description

I can't make any changes now as I have surpassed my budget. So can I finalise it?

Can you just keep the original graphics card? It's slightly faster. You will need to change the PSU if you get the money to upgrade to a $300 or something like that, but I imagine that next years (or the year after that's) ~$200 card will run totally fine on a CX430.

It's too expensive, I downgraded because of RAM

You're making a mistake with this. The 7770 is not really a strong GPU. If you want to game seriously on this machine, you should be spending as much as possible on the GPU. You can simply buy another RAM module down the road when you have more money, but you're stuck with that crappy GPU.

Of course, everyone here has already told you all of this, but you don't seem to want to listen.

EDIT: Take a look at this testing that was done just a week ago. No difference in games between 4GB and 8GB:

I totally understand, I'm serious. It's just that my brother will be using it too sometimes and he says 8GB or nothing. I'll try something.

Finally!!! So to confirm this is what I'm getting:

Motherboard: MSI AMD 970A-G46 970 Chipset
