I'm 30, 31 in Sept, so you can see exactly how my generation is turning out to be. Just go to the supermarket, mall, downtown Chicago, etc. My generation is fat. The younger generations are even fatter.
Building jungle gyms and walking trails will not help with that. It's a lifestyle choice - both conscious and unconscious - that kids, and their parents for the kids, make. And then they continue to make throughout their lives as they get older.
That's why I laugh (cynically) at the healthcare stats people through up when comparing US vs. EU in respect to obesity, high blood pressure, etc. Those stats are all F'ing meaningless because people in the EU don't make the same lifestyle choices people here in the US make.
I'm not even arguing for or against UHC...just the fact that people think they're going to change American lifestyle choices by building walking trails and jungle gyms. Soon as someone says that, they need to bow out of the discussion: They've lost any objectivity and rational thinking...can't trust anything else they say.
