I run a small computer business on the side of my day job doing specialized work... Websites, custom programming, security, etc... One of my clients is a very well known Doctor here in town, and he happens to own/run a hospital in Grenada.
We've been working on custom software, website, etc. for a little over 3 months now, and the time has come that we need to have computer systems deployed, network setup and make sure everything is working... He's flying me down there and setting me up with a place to stay for as long as I need this month with a bunch of hardware to get started...
Just wondering if anyone was ever visited the island and has any experiences they can share? I'm going down hopefully on the 19th, and I'm expecting two days of solid work... this will leave me with a couple days to myself for a little relaxation time and some exploration of the island...
If anyone has been there - Where are some interesting places to check out? Can you recommend some fun things to do besides sitting on the beach having a drink all day staring at the scenery that is bound to be walking by? (Yes, I'm taking my camera... hehe)
I do a little Geocaching from time to time, so I plan on taking a GPS unit down with me and doing the two caches that are there... I may even create a new one full of some Canadian stuff if I can find a decent spot to drop one. I'm just not expecting that will take all of my spare time...
I'll be staying in Grenville, St. Andrews while I'm there... but will have full access to a jeep that I am free to use for whatever I want while I'm on the island, so getting around isn't going to be a problem at all...
Anyway... just wondering if anyone has any advice/idea's/etc. for me while I'm down there... Places to eat, visit, and whatever else you can think of!!!
Update 1
Question for everyone - I'm sure a lot of the people I will be meeting will not be well off... I'll be on the opposite side of the island than all the resorts and stuff, so I'm guessing most of the people will not be rich by any means...
What is some stuff that I can take down there with me to really help out some of the locals? I'm going to pack two suitcases full of stuff to take down... Clothes, "Canada stuff", Soap, Toothbrushes and toothpaste, stuff like that... Anyone have any suggestions on other stuff that they could really use there??
Update 2
I'm here! Landed last night about 9:00pm. When I left Toronto there was like 3 inches of snow on the ground, and freezing... get off the plane in Barbados and DAMN was it hot... Then I had a connecting flight here to Grenada.
Really awesome here... I'll post pictures and everything as soon as I get back (Don't have a card reader on these computers)
Update 3
I'm home, safe and sound... with like 475 pictures... I have taken about 90 or so of the best ones and uploaded them to the web... and I have some panoramic ones that I will post up later of a view of the top of a mountain, A few of the beaches as well as St. Georges (Capital City)
Here are the pictures that are up so far!
