The previous pro-European regime was just as corrupt, and the new one is not even in charge of their own sub-groups, much less the whole country.

yushchenko was corrupt. he also dealt with criminal elements. so another pro european leader might not be as bad.

not sure if they is even a government formed yet after the overthrow of yanukovych so not sure what you are talking about.

Dude, for the second time, Lukashenko is in Belarus, not Ukraine.

found my error and the real names now. thankyou

not sure where tymoshnko would have gone but probably better than yanukovych for all of what i know

It's going to be even more corrupt now. They'll have to bribe all the radical elements from the west that brought the muscle to make the revolution happen, and can do it again, and also buy off politicians in the east to keep the country together. The whole economy is going to be running off IMF dole, with power structured around distributing that money. Hope the EU and US taxpayers are ready to make it rain, indefinitely.

I can't tell if your really bad at bragging or who ever taught you these other "languages" trolled your boat to Mars and back...

No, it's true. I'm fluent in Canadian and Australian as well, and speak a little New Zealand.

But that's to be expected when I'm a Brazilian/Lithuanian living in New York City who speaks some Austrian, but not German.

Understand?

A Maidan council has been established by a group of prominent activists to consult on ministerial choices. According to a statement it posted, “We will check each candidate to be proposed by the new parliamentary majority” to be sure that no one who is rich, or who worked for Yanukovych, or was involved in human rights abuses, is selected.

“Each member of the new government must secure the Maidan’s approval,” the statement said.

Looks like a mobocracy is emerging in the Ukraine. Whoever gets the most people with Molotov cocktails to Kiev gets to pick the government.

Senseamp, due to lack of time, I would like to say that although I do not agree with everything you say, you brought some important points regarding power migration and how it can upset the balance of the other side.

While it's pride may be wounded, the big winner financially this week is Russia. They won't have to support Ukraine, and Ukraine will have US and EU money, a lot of which will end up in Russia one way or another. I read that Russian banks have over $28B in exposure to Ukraine, if Ukraine were to collapse financially, Russia would be forced to bail out those banks. Instead, it will be the European and American taxpayers bailing out Ukraine. Plus Ukraine will be able to pay for Russian gas with western money instead of having that cash flow disrupted. I think if you add it all up, Russia may have enough financial upside from this week to pay for the overpriced Olympics.
Russia has the lease on naval station in Crimea until 2042. That's all it really needs from Ukraine. Russia wants to keep Crimean separatism on the back burner, so it can exercise it if Ukraine tries to back out of the lease deal or invite NATO in there. But it doesn't want to buy the cow if it keeps getting the milk for cheap.

I feel sorry for people on here, who have no knowledge or idea - why all that happened in Kiev....
It's all happened because of Yanukovich's signature on a document EU wanted him to sign...

yanukovych did not sign that document on his own decision

this is a power struggle between the west and russia. neither side can be declared a saint. what you guys are forgetting is that many countries around russia resent the centuries of oppression they have faced under them. and the increasing fundamentalism of russia is becoming more worrisome

I think that at the moment the resent that Russia is a basket case of corruption and heavy handed state control.

History always has a certain weight but I think people have the idea that their daily lives would be better being tied closer to the EU rather than to the ghost of the USSR.

Tell that you are free and no opression...

Why then you just parrot your Media "News"? if Your Mind is Free?
You're more opressed by your media than a lot of russians and ukrainians...Do you know any of those?

I've dated ukrainian women in NYC( a lot of ukrainians live in US)....How the hell they get here, if ukrainians has no freedom?

What do you know about EU? what do you know, how people did live in USSR?

I just don't want you to parrot media - tell, what do you know about - in your own words, about experiences of people you do or you did know....
