chocobaR, unless you would enjoy being ridiculed and scorned by mainstream society I think that's a really goofy idea. It's going to hamper you getting any professional positions in the future without a doubt. But, if you like negative attention, stares and working with a hat on, then go for it!

Figure out a way to get some temporary elf ears. I don't know, but they manage to do it for movies / television convincingly enough so there must be a way. Wear these temporary ones for a few days without removing them. See the type of responses you get.
By putting elven ears on, you are giving people a first impression of "I'm living in the world of make believe". Ask yourself if that is the kind of first impression you want to deliver. Remember that first impressions are pretty damn huge.
I'll be the first to say that Elf ears rock, but you gotta be able to keep reality and fantasy land in 2 different worlds. When you mix the two, you get cosplay and stupid people.
