Just curious. I personally have not, and I've been gaming since Atari 2600 and NES. I hear a lot of people talk about throwing controllers in frustration, and I just personally cannot imagine doing such a thing haha.

Then again, I have also never hit anyone or really lost control over my emotions my entire life. I'm a pretty subdued person.

I said yes but I'm not sure I have. I said yes because I do remember smashing in a righteous rage the SNES super mario kart cartridge one day after the elastic band cheating computer screwed me out of another win.

Yes, but never a wireless one. I remember turning and throwing an SNES controller behind me knowing the cable wouldn't let it break anything... except for the cable itself :\

There has been a few times that I would rage quit on MW2 and the controller some times might fall out of my hand at a fast rate.

Ah the 2600...I just bought a t-shirt that has that console on it. River Raid and Tanks where my favorites.

I have never tossed or intentionally dropped a controller.

Yep. Thankfully when I was playing console games at a young age the systems were generally connected to a massive CRT. They survived the poorly aimed rage throw no problem.

Yes, conveniently aimed at the power button when I'm just...done. That was back when older consoles were built like tanks and easily replaced.

Now I just slam my 360 controller into the couch cushion as hard as I want, worst thing is batteries come out.

I've never tossed a controller, but have dropped one in frustration, but it's only gone a couple inches to my lap so no biggie.

Yup. Street fighters.

Also have slammed my mouse in SC/SC2.

But that was in the past. I don't really do that any more.

Not since I was a kid. Controllers are expensive. A 22 yr old kid at work told me he's broken five 360 controllers because he got mad and threw them.

Hell yeah. Have thrown plenty. I even broke an XBOX 360 controller by twisting it in half.

Lets see...

Broken SNES controller. The culprit? Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Broken PSX controller. The culprit? Street Fighter Alpha 3 (fucking Bison)
Broken XBOX 360 controller. Culprit? Call of Duty MW2

I don't play video games so much anymore, but mostly because I see it as a time sink 😛

Absolutely. MLB 12 The Show resulted in a cosmetically damaged PS3 controller. The thing still works, thankfully, but man, the hitting system in this most recent version is the most infuriating thing I've come across in a video game.

Only once. With the original Xbox (with the FAT, HAMBURGER controllers). I was probably 18.

Game was College Hoops 2k5 or 6.

Playing career mode, you start out as HC of a shitty school, and earn offers from better schools (that leads to more success, obviously) by winning games. As the HC of Navy, I somehow made it to the NCAA Tournament, and WON in the first round.
In the second round, I'm UP over whoever I'm playing by something like 7 points with under 3 minutes to play. If I win, I'm guaranteed an offer from a big time school. If I lose, I'm stuck for another year at least, struggling to match that success.

Long story short, the CPU just kept finding ways....cheap ways....to win. Suddenly easy LAYUPS for me were rolling off the rim, I couldn't hit free throws, and of course, the CPU is nailing 3-pointers all the rest of the game.

With a few seconds left, and a 2 point lead, I'm fouled. BOTH free throws miss, the CPU rebounds, drives down the court, and hits a 3 pointer with 2.4 seconds left. I, of course, miss on the inbounds pass/shoot, and they win by 2.

As soon as the buzzer sounded, I chuck the controller ahead, hitting a cabinet, while shouting "F*CK THAT!".

I don't believe the controller even got a scratch. Those of you who remember the original, first gen Xbox controller probably won't be surprised though:

Haven't done it before or since. I treat my gaming stuff like gold. Original NES, SNES, Genesis PSX, Saturn, etc, still have their original boxes, manuals, and controllers/accessories from when they were new.

Really, whatever prick back in the day decided that it was a positive thing to gameplay to let the computer start cheating (rubber band racing games are the worst to me) should be put in front of a firing squad.

I'm sure I've thrown an NES controller once, Ghosts n' Goblins most likely being one of the culprits. But on the original XBox, I broke at least 4 or 5 controllers. XBox Live! Capcom vs SNK 2 being the main culprit.

Pffft. Throwing a controller is basic raging. If you wanna go all out, try biting your controller.

I once couldn't beat this level in Super Mario World (SNES), so I bit the right side of the controller so hard, you can still see my teeth marks imprinted into the controller pad to this day, quite prominently too.

I remember beating using the cord on my PS2 controller to swing it like a mace at the system. I'm not sure what game it was, but I was pretty pissed that day.

Controllers with bite marks are always amusing...

I didn't think so... But then the bite marks were where my dog chewed on my NES "turbo" controller. Fortunately (for me) he had more of a taste for my mom's favorite shoes than my game controllers.

But I just had to laugh at the Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox comment. That is most definitely a game that will try one's patients.

As for myself... Never really thrown a controller, but there have been a few times I've gotten pissed, so I just toss the controller up in the air and go shut the console off, letting the controller fall on the bed.
