Track and Field piss you off, too?

I don't honestly remember why I got that controller anymore. I was probably playing some game that was a bit of a button masher, and I got tired of having to repeatedly hit the button. I have some recollection of a game along the style of 1942, only you were a fighter jet that could also somehow function in a vacuum as well as atmosphere since one of the final levels was getting to some kind of death star like space fortress. Anyway, you had to press a button to fire the guns a single time, so to the best of my recollection like 20 years later, that's why I got that controller. But as I don't think I ever played Track and Field, I'd have to say that had absolutely nothing to do with it.

And not that I did this (seriously, I've never once used a Wii), but what about people who lose their grip on a Wiimote thing? Like when the Wii first came out, and the wrist straps were apparently breaking and controllers were flying into TVs. Would those count, or does the throwing have to be intentional?

Yes, I've thrown LOTS of controllers. Madden is usually the cause but God of War caused a few throws. Pro tip: Xbox controllers are easy to fix, you just need the proper torx with security bit (yes, I bought one). PS3 controllers are a little trickier.

Pffft. Throwing a controller is basic raging. If you wanna go all out, try biting your controller.

I once couldn't beat this level in Super Mario World (SNES), so I bit the right side of the controller so hard, you can still see my teeth marks imprinted into the controller pad to this day, quite prominently too.

LOL!

My worst rage incident was when I got so mad at Madden 2003, I ripped the CD out of my computer and flung it across the room and it shattered against the wall. Luckily it was on sale that week at Target. 😀 The shattered copy? I taped it back together and that was my league's Super Bowl trophy.

Not since I was a kid. Controllers are expensive. A 22 yr old kid at work told me he's broken five 360 controllers because he got mad and threw them.

I have probably broken that many, but I've been able to repair all of them except one. I also chucked one of my PS3 controllers pretty good one time and had to fix that as well.

Thrown, broke in half, put my fist through a NES(the console itself; bad thing was it wasn't even while gaming, was just trying to get a game to work)- my fuse was rather short in my youth(I calmed down in my twenties).

Edit- Heh, told my wife about the poll results and she wondered how the hell anyone can play games and not throw controllers, said she would play more often but she can't afford to keep replacing them(heh, she's kind of a skinflint).

My 360 controller turned off last night in the 90th minute of a Fifa Ultimate Team match I was playing. After a couple unsuccessful attempts the other guy stole it in the box as I desperately tried to reconnect it, and he was able to put in the go ahead goal.

Would've been a huge point because my team was outclassed - 2 to 5 stars. The controller certainly hit the floor after that one, although I have to say it was my own fault that I lost the lead earlier. Either way, the controller hit the deck afterwords, and I'm pretty sure that was the first time I've ever chucked one.

If I do anything to my controller, I will usually just toss it down on the couch and go shut off my xbox. It's gotten hard to shut off the xbox with any rage though now that it has the touch sensitive button. You can't really show it how mad you are by waving your finger in front of the power button.

Yeah I've been known to rage from time to time. Though I've learned for the most part to stop throwing controllers. Now I just set it down, and walk away from the game for 15 minutes or so. Usually I can finish whatever was making me rage in one try once I return.

What I really rage over is not hard games, but things that are made hard because of poor design. Stuff like poor controls, bad camera angles, cheating AI, etc. Last example I can think of is the stupid knife tower towards the end of God of War 1. What a steaming pile of crap that was...

Let me get this straight guise. You are the one's smashing and breaking crap over video games and somehow you think I am the one that's nuts?

lolz!

I remember throwing Intellivision controllers as a kid... but they were attached with those awesome spiraled wires so it was probably more for fun. As an adult, no.

I don't think I've ever thrown a controller. didn't really get into video games till about 10 yrs ago. we've always had game systems going back to Atari around the house but I always knew if I raged & broke something my pops would beat my ass (he played games all the time).

Gaming on the PC, when I rage I usually punch my desk but that's pretty rare these days. mostly it happened playing bf2.

A bit OT but raged nonetheless, I was on the tee getting ready to drive a ball for my 3rd mulligan & shanked into some houses. got pissed & swung it at those white things and busted my club head. at the time it wasn't even a month old & I was attempting to break in. that freaking sucked big time. never again have raged like that.

I don't remember throwing Atari 2600 controllers, but we did break them fairly often because the stick connected to this crappy thin plastic disk which touched the control pads and if you pressed too hard, that would eventually snap.

wasnt so much being too hard as they weren't durable for repeated presses by design.

Ninja Gaiden/X box - No saves, last boss, low health, repeated deaths.
Was sitting on the floor with my back against the couch. I totally lost it and threw the controller. I turned around grabbed the bottom of the couch and flipped the whole thing up in the air, it landed upside down. Never played Ninja Gaiden again.

It's funny, I am the same way. If I get stuck I have to take a break and can usually come back and pass it no problem later. It's funny because my gf will even remind me of it when I start to get frustrated. She'll tell me to just take a break and come back in a bit, and it almost always works.

Its almost always online shooters that make me rage.

You must be talking about the wonderful Madden difficulty settings...

Oh, you're about to score... rocket up a LB's butt and you're intercepted in the endzone. Yay.

Yup.

TDU before I finally got the hang of it. Put a dent in my apartment wall. Cost me 150 bucks to have it fixed.

To be fair I was working night shift and extremely stressed & tired and irritable most of the time. I never did it before or since then.
