If by chance I do reply to a thread and get a little out of line and they ban me then that will be ok. It's not easy to be a Mod/Admin. You have to make split decisions at times and most likely you will piss someone off, but you have to do what you feel is right at the time. There is know way they can please everyone of us, and at times sure they may miss a thread that should be lock or a post that needs deleting but remember they are human and they will make a mistake from time to time.

Yes they can read PM's if they chose too, and a lot of other things! That's there job and if it's like most sites they do not get paid for their hard work. Seldom will they even get a kind word from the members here. Most of them will sit here for hours doing what they need to do in order for things to run smoothly for everyone, and what do we do - Well! We gripe about them and say things that will cause them to ban or cause them to send warnings.

I'm not kissing up to them! I had been an Admin at another site for four years. I know what goes on behind the scene. Of course here I think they have a "leader" that will back them up and not tell them to do one thing one day and then the next day tell them to let it slide. So far I can see they stick together and that's good! That's what makes a "great team" and that's what makes "AnandTech" the great site it is!

Also not forgetting anyone - It's memebers like you that has made the forums the success that it is!

Now! Give them a break!!

I agree 100%. I think they do a good job over all. You?re bound to run in to some questionable bannings with so many members and so many different threads, forums etc.

I think as long as you follow the rules, you should be fine (there are lots of them ).

The Mods aren?t all bad (and my intentions in creating this thread were not to criticize their job in any way). After all? they did ban AOL IP range. You got to love that.

I got banned 'cause a quoted someone who used foul language in his post (language filter musta been off line or something). I then tricked the filter and posted another bad word in another reply to the same thread. All in all I was being a taunting lil' s**t and deserved to get banned. But then the mods forgot about me. and they didn't return my e-mails So I had to get eyecandy to post in Forum Issuses and ask the Mods to unban me since it was like a week after my week vacation. Then I got let back in and I've been a good boy ever since.

Warned once during a fiasco about some guy named Denni*floss.

Vacation for a week for me being too stupid to realize PM's (private messagges?) were included in a warning about asking for a Staples printable coupon link. Maybe they should be renamed public messages...

I was banned twice. One time for excessive neffing where there was a thread and instead of clicking Reply once you would click it 20 times and multiple post. The other time was for posting a software crack.

We have a banning quota every month. Lately, I've had to give my moderators prizes for exceeding the quota.

Nope, no bans or warnings.

I exchanged several PMs at one point with the moderatori regarding my sig (one of them deemed it inappropriate, removed it, I pointed out that it had been there for months so why the sudden yank, he/she consulted with the other mods, sig received stamp of approval).

Had a thread locked recently. Was really meant to be funny since I was seriously tempted to buy a completely impractical car, but the mod seemed to think it was a serious "for sale" ad. Oh well.

Never been banned but I've had a thread completely yanked, gone, destroyed within one day of creating it. It was titled "Shaved, young p#ssy" and I included a wink and grin on the title. Inside I had links to pictures of our youngest cat who had just gotten back from getting a "lion" hair cut. Funny thing was, I never got a notice about it (they may have sent one but my email has been hosed for months).

I've also had a couple of threads locked, nothing major though.

On the old boards (back in 1998 or 1999) I think I had a thread yanked....and I think I got a warning.....not sure though if it was another board.

I think the thread's still around. It was in the day when everyone was posting the "1 in 4 has had" threads.

I've got a lot of faith in the mods, but I'm a little dissapointed in them for this.

Please note - "DivX" is not "DIVX". Poor ZoSo forgot to clarify that he wanted legal DIVX movies, the failed Circuit City discs.
Two seconds before I could get my post in explaining things - locked and banned for "requesting warez".

I do believe that I could offer crack to the mods, while forcefully inserting a sharp object into them, and posting pics of myself in the buff with the addresses of various porn sites written in whipped cream on my body, and not get banned, or warned, or even acknowledged.
