I wasnt banned, but I did have a run-in with the mod. I was made a diamond member last Jan 1st, as a sort of holiday joke sort of thing.. I donno, but I was complaining about how I was such an old member, but not a high rank.
Well, a month or so later, my roommate makes an account and starts posting nefs. I go in his threads and comment on them, and he comments on my comments. So of what he said was fairly rude, so he got a ban and I was kicked back to regular member.
I dont think the mods are very "nice" or 'fair", but as a website admin myself, I understand that they have a job to do.

i was banned twice for things i'm not too clear about.
my most recent banning happened 1 week before my subscription ran out. needless to say, i don't think i'm going to pay my hard earned money to get banned again for something so stupid. what makes it worse is that i never received a warning.
after that i haven't been as active on this board as i was. i probably come here about 5-6 times a month, if even.

hmm, a warning via PM once. I was being an asshole 
and I guess I've participated in a few locked threads, and I've created a few too. It kinda sucks though, how some threads about funny stuff that you see or whatever, are deemed "nef threads" when just about every "joke thread" is actually a nef thread: everybody responds with "" or "" or "LOL" or "LMAO" or whatever... often up to 20 or so posts. But other things aren't tolerated. :frown:

Was once banned, but it wasn't because of anything I posted.
Remember GUTB? At the height of his nimrodness, some joker started posting from the "backbone"- the mods would ban him (and the isp) He would the re-register,using a different ISP. At one point, I figured that about 1/2 the country was banned......

I was warned after I started semi-swearing at Red Dawn in a thread I made when I was a newbie with like 20 posts.

i've been banned four times......DOH, none, i have a thread locked here and there......no major warnings though

Someone made fun of my nick, so I made a new user named the new suggestion and posted ONE post, I got banned for 2 weeks for it. No warning whatsoever.

well if viper gts can admit to a previous banning, i guess i can get away with it. i got banned once, long ago. i stayed away for a long time cause "if they don't want me i don't want them!" but the call of at was too strong and i had to rejoin. i must have learned my lesson, cause so far i haven't even been warned about anything.

If by chance I do reply to a thread and get a little out of line and they ban me then that will be ok. It's not easy to be a Mod/Admin. You have to make split decisions at times and most likely you will piss someone off, but you have to do what you feel is right at the time. There is know way they can please everyone of us, and at times sure they may miss a thread that should be lock or a post that needs deleting but remember they are human and they will make a mistake from time to time.
Yes they can read PM's if they chose too, and a lot of other things! That's there job and if it's like most sites they do not get paid for their hard work. Seldom will they even get a kind word from the members here. Most of them will sit here for hours doing what they need to do in order for things to run smoothly for everyone, and what do we do - Well! We gripe about them and say things that will cause them to ban or cause them to send warnings.
I'm not kissing up to them! I had been an Admin at another site for four years. I know what goes on behind the scene. Of course here I think they have a "leader" that will back them up and not tell them to do one thing one day and then the next day tell them to let it slide. So far I can see they stick together and that's good! That's what makes a "great team" and that's what makes "AnandTech" the great site it is!
Also not forgetting anyone - It's memebers like you that has made the forums the success that it is!
