I know this might be a serious stereotype on my part but I was always under the impression that *many* black women really hated black guys that dated white women ....don't know where I got that idea from other than a black friend of mine in college who mentioned it...and I think he was referring to both young and old women..so I wonder how that would effect Amused statement of....

Thankfully, her generation will die soon and take much of their racism with them. With each successive generation, racism will become more and more outdated and rare.

I also have heard that other groups look down upon interracial relations....so while it might become more accepted in some forms as Amused suggests there is also the notion that it would remain in others for quite a while....

I dunno, a couple months back I was assaulted outside my home by four black men. It could have been racism I guess. Regardless of whether it was racially motivated (I doubt it, I beleive it was an attempted robbery) it did not do wonders for MY feelings on racial issues. Being attacked by a group of people all of the same ethnicity does tend to make you wary of similar people in the future. Especailly late at night when you're alone.

You are right. Many Black(NOT ALL-MY LADY DOESNT CARE)women hate to see a black dude with a white chick. Their argument is there are too many elgible "sistas" for them, why are they dating white women.

Well, I've dated both (white, black, mixed black and white). All I can say is you fall for whoever you connect with no matter what color they are. I've definitely fallen for my GF despite/regardless of what color she is and what color I am.

Sorry your girlfriend has a redneck grandma, but jeebus you are whiter than most of my "white" friends. You don't even like rap do you?

My stepfather is a closet racist guy as well, also have an Uncle that can't stand black people. He would not even let his daughter watch the Cosby's when they were on TV. I thought it was so funny when she went to college and endded up getting a Sista as a roommate.

Not to make an excuse for them and all, but both of them came from a line of people that looked down on other races, but it ended with them and did not get passed off to any offspring. I would hazard a guess that the grandma lives or lived in a small town, they still tend to be a little backwards when it comes to social progression. Even when my wife and I go back home, we get a few stares. Not of ill intent, just surprise.

Next time you go see grandma, wear a fake fro, sport some nice shiny fake bling-bling, carry you a boom box, and tell her guess what grandma "You gonna be a great grandma. We are going to name him Shaka Zulu"

Warning try at your own risk, old lady might have a heart attack

Same here. I find it funny that Chinese is one of my favorite foods. I'm married to someone Asian that does not really care for it. Plus whenever we do go out to one, I'm the only one who uses chopsticks.

No, I don't like (c)rap :)

Get this though. Her grandmother didn't even like her dad (he is full Greek) when she found out he was going to marry her daughter (this was back in the 70's). She didn't speak to her daughter for 2 months before the wedding. She thought he was going to marry her and cart her off to Greece...WTF? He was born and raised in the US and can barely speak Greek

You are never going to change people from that generation and you'll eat yourself up inside if you try.

Yada, yada, yada.....grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference.

In time you'll only feel pity when you run across such people.

Well I love being around people of all races. When I lived in Florida I hung around a lot of Spanish people and heard some comments from other racist Hispanics. The most amusing that I recall to this day (a good 16 years ago) was when I was standing in a group of people outdoors and I was the only white guy out there. This one Spanish girl had her dog with her and the dog was barking. She said with all seriousness how her dog doesn't like white people and it was evident she didn't either. I took the comment with stride but wanted so badly to say "hmmm, I guess you are and your dog are in the wrong damn country!" How are you going to move to the US where you are a minority and hate white people? How 'bout ya stay ur azz home.

Not only that I am in an interracial relationship and have interracial children in the deep South. I have heard a few comments when we're together and PLENTY of racist remarks from people who have no idea I am involved in such a relationship when I am alone. For the most part, however, they may stare and talk behind your back but I haven't really encountered any problems.

Some people truly have issues with their own identity and insecurities and thus feel compelled to treat others badly so they will feel superior. Few things amuse me more than some disgusting backwoods dredge of society feeling he is superior to anyone. He/she feels that way because deep down they know they are losers who will amount to nothing and they have to have someone that can make themselves feel good about themselves by putting them down and making fun of them.

NFS4 I've slowly learned you cannot fight the world so let it go and let her die a bitter old fool. There isn't much you can do about it but enjoy your life and time with your girl all the more in spite of her.

You would be surprised at what some of us listen to. We aren't all into Metallica and Garth Brooks. I was freaking a girl out the other day with my Old Skool knowledge and she was joking she was in love saying I was bringing back so much she'd forgotten. That is only one small example, though.

i know, im being funny.....i went to a white high school the last 2 years of my High School career. Thats when i first realized that not only blacks listen to rap/r&b . The whole damn school listened to EPMD, LL and others. I was like, wow, YALL listen to this. When i was younger and naive, i thought all blacks listen to one type, all whites listen to that type, etc.
BTW, i like some Metallica songs myself. I dont know many Metallica songs, but the CD with the song "One" was a good one.

Yup had racism all my life.

From as young as I can remember I had some w@nk call me names. The usual lot. I had people pick on me for fights in school as I was one of 3 or 5 asians in the year. I ignored their crap until they got physical then I'd defend myself. After a few saw I could fight they didn't mess with me.

I get kids from 5 to 13 come and call me names. So pointless. I just blame their crappy selves and maybe their up bringing, or just that they are bad kids...

Back in Florida, I was dating this white chick, or maybe it was her sister... (another story). Anyways, the neighborhood was chock full o' rednecks. I guess they put up with me coming over there for about 2 weeks.

Finally one day as I parked my car and was walking to her door, all the neighoors came out to yell at me. I'm talking both side neighbors, and teh three directly across the street.

They started by calling me "n1gger", which I replied they must be color blind because I wasn't black.
Then they called me "g00k", I said I wasn't Veitnamese.
They they called me "ch1nk", I'm not Chinese.
They calledd me "slope head", I'm not Japanese.
They called me about every name in the book they could think of (so many that it actually surprised me), which was long enough for my GF to call the cops out. The cops came, and disfused the whole situation. So there wasn't any fight, at least not that day.

Besides "Flip", is there any slang for a Filipino? :D

I went to the admissions office to apply for a college scholarship - then I was told it was only available to minority students. What makes less sense is, Asians cannot apply for the scholarship either - I guess Asians are no longer able to benefit from AA. What's up with that?

Oh and I applied for a NASA youth-learning-internship and got turned down because it was limited to minorities (minus Asians).

I'm Chinese and when I was at the Greyhound bus station in downtown L.A. with some other Chinese friends, this young black guy comes up to us and goes "Yao Ming!" We look at him and he asks if we know who Yao ming is? We're like yeah and then we get started talking about Yao Ming and basketball a bit. After a bit, he asks us for some money and walks away.

Wasn't really discrimatory racism, but a funny situation my friends and I look back at it!

At 58, white, graybeard and living downtown. Yeah, often, but if I smile and nod my head,
I'm generally greeted with a smile. All my life I have worked blue collar and the work
force is mixed. Everyone with a brain judges one another on performance. Mixed couples were only a problem for the ignorant. Out of that ignorance comes fear.

My GF (white) teaches 9th grade, the school is 3% white. Her only problem students
are Blk females that yell in her face over grades. A voice activated tape recorder took
care of that problem last year. The word got out! These youngsters would pull out the race card and she was to loving/smart to engage them.

If you two love each other, thats all that matters.
