I am really not sure how you can give him an A+ for Fast Times At Ridgemont High considering his role was basically a cameo but he wasn't even a star at the time. I don't even think he had a speaking part except maybe to say "NO DICE!", if he even did that. I cannot remember since his part was so small. The only movie at that time period he had a major part in was Valley Girl if I remember correctly and that movie was damned fun at the time and Cage was rather good in it. That movie has a special place in my heart because I went to high school with the female lead, Deborah Foreman.

Hehe, I enjoy quite a bit of his movies. I liked Matchstick Men, and Lord of War (My favorite Cage movie of all time.. such a deceptively awesome movie).

Leaving Las Vegas and Raising Arizona were probably my favourite two. Otherwise:

Face Off
Gone in 60
National Treasure
The Rock
Are all decent movies.

Talk about a thread backfire. Whether or not you think he's a good actor, he's been in quite a few good movies.

I *LOVED* Cage's deadpan narration mixed with the campy music in Raizing Arizona. I don't think the movie would have been the same without him. Wonderful and certainly not "in spite" of him. Yeah, the Coen's are largely to thank too. 😉

Also, Face Off wasn't the greatest of movies but you have to realize that he was the one acting circles around John Travolta (confusing plot circumstances may cause the viewer to misapply due credit).

Never been much of a Nicholas Cage fan.

As gocorps already mentioned, the movies of his that I enjoyed, were in spite of him...not because of him.

I actually liked the National Treasure movies...except for Riley. What a fucking doofus. 😛

He's sort of like Bruce Willis...he does many different movies...but seems to always be the same character in all of them...no real acting range. (he's not a BAD actor...and he rarely sounds like...he's...reading...a...script, as so many other actors do, there's just something I don't like about the basic Nicholas Cage persona. :shrug;

Lord of War (great fuckin movie IMO)
Face/Off
National Treasure
Gone in 60 Seconds

Haven't seen a lot of Nic Cage movies but I do enjoy the ones above.

Holy frickin' timewarping 😕

Lord of War was an outstanding movie.

He does lots of movies i find quite entertaining, even if they aren't "great".

Nicholas Cage and I share the same birthday of January 7th.

Hes had good movies and some real stinkers. Kind of like me. Ive had good threads and some real stinkers.

Oh well. 🙁

I was watching Peggy Sue Got Married the other day, and it struck me how much better the movie would have been without nicholas cage and his damned annoying voice.

it got me thinking, has he ever been in a good movie, not counting something like Fast Times at Ridgemont High where he had a bit part, or something like Raising Arizona, where it was good in spite of, not because of, him.

The Rock?

this. and conair wasn't bad either.

Valley Girl!!!

"This chick Julie.....Man, she is truly Dazzling."

ROFLMAO

Oh and I think he's made more than his share of good movies. I think he's a pretty decent actor. Better than that "emotable fountain" Keanu Reaves.

I need to see this "Lord of War"
