This is all you really need to know about Cheney, from the Politico "interview" the other day:

Cheney was asked if he thinks the Bush administration bears any responsibility for the disintegration of Afghanistan because of the attention and resources that were diverted to Iraq. “I basically don’t,” he replied without elaborating.

He's much, much more intelligent, shrewd, evil and creative than caribou barbie, in fact, my cat has coughed up things more intelligent than her, so it's a tie imo. You get extra stupid with a wink and a smile or you get pure evil.

Yeh, the way they sent half the country scuttling for cover with waves of fearmongering in the wake of 9/11

The Obama fear mongering checklist
1) Pass a 1.4 trillion dollar "stimulus" package or unemployment will go above 8%
check
2) Pass health care "reform" or people will continue to die in the streets
check
3) Pass Cap & Tax or the planet will die
check

or the way they projected power into New Orleans after Katrina..

You mean the people that were told by the government to leave but *choose* to stay behind?

Power over what, exactly? Afghan and Iraqi insurgents?

Huh, I guess leaving those countries alone worked out so well. Afghanistan was left alone by the world, harbored Al Qaeda, and resulted in 9/11. Those Muslims can sure govern themselves so well can't they.

The same N.Korea that is giving the world the middle finger now?

The same Iran where Obama threw democracy under the bus to appease a 2 bit dictator in the *hope* that he would talk with him. (and is now giving the world the middle finger)

Another thing perhaps worth noting is the fact that Dick Cheney is almost the lone ranger in defending the GWB presidency. GWB, Rumsfeld, Rice, Hadley, Attington, Karl Rove, Henry Paulson, and so many more seem to have taken a vow of silence in the hopes that they can fly below the radar and pretend they were not part of the total trainwreck the GWB administration became.

And only Dick Cheney publicly defends his sad and sorry record.

I also speculate that GWB, in contemplating the legacy of his Presidency, now regrets the council of Dick Cheney, as he realized too late, in the closing days of his Presidency, that Dick Cheney was the single individual most responsible for the failures of his Presidency.

I'm not so sure if he is truly evil or just a warped, defeated man who is in complete denial?

I would have sworn I would have been challenged on this statement. Cheney not evil?? I've never seen such an evil looking smirk as he has on anyone, not even Charles Manson.

When I bother to read the tripe you and others spew about Dick Cheney, seeking, ever seeking some kind of mutual masturbatory self validation, I just consider this poem by Rudyard Kipling.

"If"

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And — which is more — you'll be a Man my son!

Is Dick Cheney some kind of whimsical hero to you PJABBER?

Seriously thinking that poem applies to Cheney in any way just makes you sound absolutely insane. I could see going halfway and you trying to argue he wasn't that bad of a guy, but going full blown the other way and trying to make him out to be some kind of saint is absolutely ridiculous.

Not a saint, but a Man. Capitalized.

And, therefore, the antithesis of all those who so gleefully bash him here.

heyheybooboo, VashHT, ayabe - already it is so much fun to see the usual assortment of peanuts come out to validate my point.

But, aren't we still missing a few? I'm guessing that the Remedial English and freshman Introduction To Socialism classes have not let out yet.

;-)

I have to get ready to drive down to the White House for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony now. So, most sadly, I will log off till late tonight, well after the festivities and dinner out. See if you can spot me in the crowd on TV tonight (5P EST)!

I'm really looking forward to hearing Sheryl Crow and Celtic Woman perform. Thanks for paying your taxes on time (if you pay them at all!)

Your point is invalid, I rarely ever post in P&N. Your ridiculous poem however made me do it, it is absolutely ridiculous for you to claim that cheney is a "real man" just because he is criticized by the public. You try to make it sound like he saved our country despite our best efforts to thwart his good will, you are utterly ridiculous. I suggest you read the poem more closely instead of just reading the last line and going "Oh yeah, Cheney is da Man!".

And yeah, way to throw in some BS about your personal life, as if driving to the white house to see the tree lighting ceremony supports any of the garbage you've posted in this thread.

So the ideal Man for the rightwing is a draft dodger who lacks the personal courage to ever admit mistakes or take ownership of the things that went awry when he was in charge.

I call that a fucking Pussy, with a capital P.

Haha, don't forget his work under Bush Sr. as well. Secretary of Defense Cheney was incredibly gung-ho during Desert Shield/Storm about going in and deposing Saddam Hussein - one of General Powell's main tasks at the time was to "handle" him. Schwarzkopf said in not so many words in his autobiography that the guy was a loon.

"I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." – Dick Cheney on his five draft deferments, April 5, 1989

Dick Cheney the kind of man who's not afraid to send someone else to do his fighting for him. No wonder PJabber the Hut likes him.
