Has anyone here had a vasectomy?

I'm just curious about the procedure.

Is it painful? How long does it take? How long until you're back at 100%? How much does it cost, etc.

I'm considering getting one when I turn 24, but I'm not sure.

24? Don't you want a child after marriage? Or I assume you can reattach...

Don't get one. It won't protect you from STD's, so if you're just using a condom anyway, What's the point.

Especially with drugs in the works that can make you shoot blanks... forget about it.

I don't want any kids.

It's something I've thought long and hard about and discussed with dozens of people over the course of years. I am completely certain that I do not want a child.

Man card. Hand it over.

How is that unmanly?

no it is not at all...but 24...you are not going to find a doctor that will preform it..not until u are 40 at least!

but that is one of the most biggest commitments and sacfrafices you can do for a woman...if anything it is more manly...

Why would a doctor not perform it?

I know this is going to sound extremely callous, but STILL. You're going to be using condoms no matter what (probably) and unless you're seriously dating someone now, it's likely that you'll have another alternative before this decision becomes permanent.

And there is NOTHING un-manly about getting a vasectomy. Just because you're limiting your natural ability to have kids, that doesn't mean anything... if it DID have something to do with anything, animals would be much more "manly" than any human alive...

What would I need to do to become more mature about the decision? Knock a few girls up? Get married? Turn 35?
