. . . and i'm giving you a WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!

no ticket

edit: California Highway Patrol in my town

(i thanked him . . . twice)
++++++++++++++++++++++

EDIT: Here's the "details" of the stop:

Actually, i was on the cell-phone (with a utility company so i was pretty irritated) and noticed i was almost 75 in a 65 . . . i immediately let up on the gas and looked back to see the CHP way (way ) back there.

I continued to coast until i was doing exactly 67MPH and noticed he was pacing me . . . after 1/2 mile more he put on the lights. He told me i was doing 80 in a 65 and i told him "impossible". He said "my radar is calibrated" and that he noticed me on the cell phone. i agreed with him, that my speed "got away" from me during the call on the downhill grade but it was NOT 80MPH.

He pressed me to tell him exactly "how fast" and i said almost 75 when i immediately let up the gas. He told me to "watch your speed and i am only giving you a warning this time."

:)

2nd EDIT: How lucky, you might ask? He didn't even cite me for my cracked windshield . . . about a foot-long from a rock.

UPDATE It's been about 10 days and i thought you'd like an update. Evidently my "stop" was part of a CHP crackdown on speedeers. . . . 2-3 cops patrolled where one was the norm. And i have to say it worked - whereas 3/4s of the drivers used to routinely fly by at 10-15 miles over the speed limit - they have slowed to nearly the speed limit.

i guess we're now all 'saving gas.

I've been stopped twice by CHP, and twice have received tickets. One for speeding, the other for no seat belt.

I havn't been pulled over by a State Trooper yet, just twice by County Officers. Both were traps.

I received a warning the first time I was stopped. I was on an interstate well outside of any city limits so I think it was the Highway Patrol but I don't remember for certain.

I've been lucky a couple times, once was for speeding in a construction zone, the cop saw my student id when I was getting my dl and said "consider this a $450 gift" and only gave me a warning.

Yeah, I was pulled over by state patrol, but I think he was bored. It was 3am, he ran through some basic sobriety tests and then sent me on my way.

I've only been pulled over twice, once for 75 in a 55 and again for a burnt out headlight. A ticket for the first and a warning for the other. Luckily the first guy was a state cop and not an Eaton County cop, and he only marked me down for 65.

once driving in east Texas, driving from New Orleans to Los Angeles...it was like 11pm and no one on the road, closest "town" an hour in either direction...got a warning

i think the cop was just to illiterate to write a ticket

I have Maryland plates and NY Mets plate holder

he goes to me, so where is Maine anyway?
me- wtf look on my face, "excuse me?"
him- "maine or I mean maryland, where is that?"
me- "uhm Near washington DC on the east coast"
him- "hmmm how far is that from NY?"
me- (forgot about my plate holder and am really confused), "about 3 hours"
him- "hmmm, thats not too far, anyway Im just gonna give you a warning this time"

So it does happen . . . probably not in California . . . . they usually have a "quota" to fill. ;)

Got a written warning from a Texas State Trooper on I-45 between Houston and Dallas. He actually was going the other way on the interstate and crossed the median and u-turned after we passed each and caught up to me (he must have been going 100+) and pulled me over. I was going 90 in a 70... he had me at 85. I'm guessing he gave me a warning cause he probably didn't get a chance to radar me...

90 in a 55, no ticket
72 in a 55, ticketed

Those are my only two speed stops so far.

I've been pulled over twice, actually on two consecutive nights (in November 2003).

The first one was for 83 in a 65, for which I got a ticket...the second was just 55 in a 45 and he let me go.

First month of driving, way back from Casino Morongo with 2 friends on 10 East about 5 years ago. Going 75-80 and I saw the cop behind me. He proceeded to go ahead of me and I decided that it couldn't hurt to drive as fast as him. Well he pulled me over and I guess since I'd been only driving for awhile and I was still about 1.5 hr from home he decided to let me off.

Got let off on the 405 for going 80, told him I was running late already for a date and I had flowers in the car with me to prove it. Let off that time too.

Got ticketed 3 or 4 other times for speeding, all within the first 2 years of my liscense. 24yo now and haven't got one since.

I drove for months in my old car with a crack spanning halfway across the windshield. A foot long crack is nothing. :p
