I've gotten lucky a few times.

One was doing 105 in a 45. And yes, he let me go. Yes, I'm serious. Denver cops are (usually) the coolest I've ever seen. In all of Colorado at the very least.

my wife did. she had picked me up from the bar after a night of excessive drinking and the cop felt bad because i was being an obnoxious drunk a'hole and let her off with a warning.

For future reference, always let the cops pass you before you match speeds with them;)

And actually don't match speeds with them...just go "almost" as fast and let them slowly pull away from you.

A couple days ago I passed a cop doing 80 in a 60. He was sitting in the median pointing towards me. When I saw him I slowed down to about 65... (figured he got me since I saw him kinda late, so no since faking it. He just pointed at me and shook his finger. I was so lucky lol.

Got let off on the 405 for going 80, told him I was running late already for a date and I had flowers in the car with me to prove it. Let off that time too.

Got ticketed 3 or 4 other times for speeding, all within the first 2 years of my liscense. 24yo now and haven't got one since.
I wasn't too far away . . . in Morongo valley - State Hwy 62. See "75-80" is "normal" for I-10 since the speed limit is 70 [anyway] . . . most of the time the won't bother if you are under 80. Same with the 405 . . . 70 in an 80 is "borderline". However, USUALLY - if the CHP pulls you over for speeding you ARE going to get a ticket.

In my case, if i was really doing 80 in a 65 [15 MPH over is a pretty expensive ticket in Cali] and all i could legitamately hope for is "traffic school" . . . . about $500 total (school/ticket/windshield repair).

USELESS!!!!
Can't agree. The have helped me in the past in roadside emergencies and i have been "escorted" off the freeway when my tire blew out. Plus they DO keep the really dangerous drivers OFF the Highways.

That's the "good part" . . . i hate the "ticket machine" . . . that's whay i was SO SURPRISED this morning to get a warning instead of a ticket. :)

I know . . . cops usually won't stop you for "just a cracked windshield" - BUT - they WILL give you a "fix it" ticket IF they stop you sor something else. ;)

i WAS lucky!

Yes.

I got on the freeway and had been doing 75 in a 65 for about .5 miles when the lights go on. While examining my credentials, the officer asks how fast I was going and I tell him around 65 (sure, I lied). He says that he's been pacing me for 1.5 miles at 90 (which clearly wasn't true, even if I was speeding). I said "why sir, my speedometer only goes up to 85. I'll have to get it looked at when I get home." This pissed him off and he threw my license back at me and told me to "get the hell out of here." And off he drove without writing me a ticket. :)

I have been pulled over once by the WSP (Washington State Patrol) somewhere near Ellensburg, WA. I was in a really old pontiac 6000 station wagon with a busted (did not know it at the time) speedometer. Apparently it got less accurate the faster you went. Here I was cruising at 72 (70mph is the speed limit) passing most cars but still being passed myself on occasion.

Then the lights appear behind me from a little chevy (not sure the model). He pulls me over and wants to know why I was going 92! I told him I had no idea and that the speedometer told me I was at 72. He explained the responsibility I had for maintaining my car and gave me a lower ticket, it said "80+ in a 70" for $65. Pretty nice of him considering I was over 20 mph, I did not even know that old card could go that fast!

The really funny part was that I was on the way to see my then gf (wife now) in Seattle. The next day we went to bumpershoots which is a music festival held yearly in Seattle Center. While there one of the musicians and a radio station were giving t-shirts away for silly things and one of the questions they asked was wether anyone had a parking or speeding ticket they got recently on them. So I went up and claimed my $65 t-shirt! :)

The only time I've been pulled over by the highway patrol I got a warning. I was doing a little more than 10 over the limit.

arrested by a state trooper once... motherf----r

but yes once I was stopped by one and given a verbal warning for speeding, no ticket. I was heading to work, graveyard shift, he was looking for drunk drivers I assume

since I got my svt Lightning pickup and bought a Valentine 1 radar detector, I have never even been pulled over by any cop, 2 years now.. despite speeding occasionally on highway stretches

I got off with a fix it warning for my brake lights, one new years eve, I think he was just trying to figure out if I was driving drunk or not.

All the other times I've gotten some form of citation when Iw as pulled over. It's easy money for the city/county.

EDIT: Here's the "details" of the stop:

Actually, i was on the cell-phone (with a utility company so i was pretty irritated) and noticed i was almost 75 in a 65 . . . i immediately let up on the gas and looked back to see the CHP way (way ) back there.

I continued to coast until i was doing exactly 67MPH and noticed he was pacing me . . . after 1/2 mile more he put on the lights. He told me i was doing 80 in a 65 and i told him "impossible". He said "my radar is calibrated" and that he noticed me on the cell phone. i agreed with him, that my speed "got away" from me during the call on the downhill grade but it was NOT 80MPH.

He pressed me to tell him exactly "how fast" and i said almost 75 when i immediately let up the gas. He told me to "watch your speed and i am only giving you a warning this time."

:)

2nd EDIT: How lucky, you might ask? He didn't even cite me for my cracked windshield . . . about a foot-long from a rock.

And exactly how big are your breasts?

I haven't... but once while we were on our way up north (Rte 2 in da U.P.) we got pulled over for doing 80 in a 65 (I think). He gave us a warning since it was 6 am, we were the only ones on the road for miles (other than the State Trooper), and my wife was driving.

Me driving = instant ticket. lol

I got pulled over at 12:30am, the night I got my license for 84 in a 70. I'm out past curfew and speeding, which should have been two citations, and he let me go.

I was once pulled over for going 56 in a 55 near Aberdeen, WA. Not joking. He kept my license for a loooong time back in that car but eventually he let me go. I think that's probably the only time that's ever happened.

I was pulled over in W.VA by a state trooper for doing 74 in a 70 zone. It was about 2AM and and I guess the state trooper was lonely. He gave me a warning.

My buddy was driving and we weren't paying attention when a cop pulled us over late at night. He asked us what we were doing so late and told him we were making an ice cream run to Friendly's.

He said get him some ice cream too and slow down and let us go.

Nice guy.

yes, stopped by a Texas Highway Patrolman on I-35.

Only time ive ever been pulled over. Says I was following too closely. Completely trumped up, I was a safe distance away. At least 3 car lengths. The way some people here drive, thats a mile.

First thing he tells me he's going to write me a warning, then starts in asking me if I have drugs. I said No. He asks if I consent to a search, I said No. He says he smells weed and has probable cause. He searches my car and finds nothing, since I had nothing.

Let me go. He just targeted me because I had out of state tags heading north on I-35 and fit the 'profile' of a drug runner, to him at least.

I had a trooper write me a ticket and we just talked bout work and stuff while he was writing it and then when he was done he said he can't void it out or he would but if I didn't get anymore tickets between then and the court date that he would get the judge to dismiss it... He kept his word, and I didn't even have to say a word to the judge. Believe it or not, this was in rural Alabama, 87 in a 65.

The officer can do that. If he has probable cause your best off to just let him search (assuming nothing in the vehicle). Otherwise depending on state laws due to MADD/SADD communists the 'occifer' may have legal ability to search your vehicle.

Well, since i am a skinny male . . . i'd say pretty small . . . chest would be 'average' for a man.

HOWEVER, i DO live 20 miles from Palm Springs ;)

NO! it wasn't THAT! :disgust:
:Q

i really couldn't figure it out . . . . i have to assume i was not really "doing 80" [i really do think it was 75] and he wanted to see if i was "paying attention" while on the phone (i wasn't or he wouldn't have caught me). :p

Also, it was "downhill", i am "local" (by my license address) - so maybe he figures he will get me another day . . . . :p

i had BETTER drive the speed limit - well, 'under 70' - on my highway from now on . . . the CHP is VERY active and i should have known better [anyway] . . .

i guess i just "got lucky"

i'll let you know if my lotto ticket wins tonight.
