Look.
This is not about food eaten after 7 P.M turns to fat or anything like that.
Why do we eat food?
For energy.
Do you need energy to sleep?
No.
I say if you are looking to cut down on calories, that dinner (and maybe lunch) would would be the best meals to do that.
If you do this, it might be tough to go to bed a little hungry at first, but your body will get used to it. You will become very tired at bedtime and you will sleep deep like you never have before. At least that is the way it worked out for me.
I would say though, that if you lift weights or do other types of strenuous work that require muscle repair. I would eat a little cottage cheese (slow digesting protein) before bed to prevent muscle wasting and aid in the muscle repair that normally occurs at while sleeping.
