Im having a hard time taking this seriously, Im getting nailed for harassment at work. Im gonna post a big ass rant about my basic history there, you can skip to the end if youd like.
So I have a terrible "boss" and even worse co-worker...My pay is laughable, to the point its not even worth discussing (I make less now than most are started at). But Im a good (or perhaps just stupid) employee and try hard every day. I dont complain, I work safe, and I work smart. In a workplace that averages 1 death every seven years (actually somebody just died last thursday) I think Ive done damn good not getting a single injury in the 5+ years Ive been there. Not even a single sick day.
My "boss" has serious anger management issues and is constantly swearing and throwing a fit like a kid, slaming things and hitting stuff and Ive seen him throw things (he actually broke somebody elses stuff once and blamed it on me). Needless to say, thats dangerous in our line of work. Nobody gives a shit...its like a running joke (nobody will admit the physical violence, just the bad language). He loves to get in my face and interrupt my work, belittle me and make it hard to explain what/why Im doing things.
I actually am retarded (seriously), they knew it when I started (I had government assistance getting the job and doing the interview)...I dont know if they remember now or just take advantage of that. Oh and Im calling him the "boss" because hes not really...I just dont know what else to call him. Hes the senior on my shift and some big wig hot shot that they actually went looking for. Pretty much whatever he says goes, since they want to keep him (special hours, special pay, special treatment). My actual supervisor works on the first shift as does the head boss.
Fairly recently I finally told him (it was just one sentence, I thought it was polite) he was interupting my work and I got written up for it. HOW DARE I QUESTION HIS AUTHORITY! IM DISRESPECTING HIM! Whatever. Got written up a week later for something similar, he was bothering me again and I was just like "dude we already went over this". Yeah big trouble for disrespecting him again.
I dont care, for the most part I work on the other side of the room by myself...just a whole collection of crap building up for 5 years or something made me speak up that one day. The second time was just stupid...I should have just said "yes sir!" like usual instead of mentioning the first incident. Again, whatever.
I think its that attitude thats kept me going here...I am emotionless and cant really care.
As far as co-workers go, they have basically been spotty and shitty. When I started I was getting trained by a guy who was going to be leaving and another new employee who had been there 6 months. Well trainer guy left and eventually the other employee didnt like the job and wanted another position. I think I had been there a year or something, anyway got an employee trained and such and the other went to a new position in another part of the building. The new trained guy didnt like the job either after like 6 months and started training for another position as well (but in the same area).
Got another new employee and he was trained by this other guy for a few months...so Im like at 2 years now. This employee didnt work out either but they hadnt found a replacement so I was running both shifts myself with a little help from the last guy when he could or if we were really busy and I couldnt put in enough hours. We went through several employees for about a year, with me running both shifts between employees.
The head boss decides we need new equipment to make things faster (2 of 4 machines). Well not just faster, these new machines have added abilities but we can do it. Instead of talking to me about all this, they talk to everyone else. They go for it, several hundred thousand dollars. Even though we were busy and going through employees like crazy they decide theyre gonna fly in a specialist from italy to train us on these new machines. They had him come in on first shift and train everyone else. I actually came in extra early one day and everybody was out on a special lunch trip. In the end I got probably an hour of time with the guy for the basics.
This is at like year 4 for me now. Well Im smart and Ive got experience...these are very different machines but based on what I know I kinda start figuring it out. Ive had a lot of experience by now and Ive been running the shop by myself for a long time. I had things running as efficiently as possible and was producing good quality work. But now even going into double time production is down, and Im not performing as good as I used to, they complain saying Im becoming lazy or something. I start showing up late.
Hire another new guy, they want him on first shift and since first shift got training on these new machines they decide to have him trained by the one employee who had left the position way back when. Together they start screwing up the rest of the stuff I had setup and really kill my production. Im getting worn out doing this physical job and from working overtime so much for so long, on top of the new machines and people messing with my stuff...then I find out how my pay compares to others. Yeah I admit I was sucking ass at that point, getting to work late...alot.
Head boss decides we need to replace the last two peices and they figure this new employee is awesome because he is doing so much better than me. Hes got like 6 months now (which is longer than the others had gone up to now) but they let him make all the decisions and set things up the way he likes. I literally have no say in the matter, I got to take vacation for a few days during this period.
Well new machines are in and Im still trying to learn everything and deal with this new employee. Hes still stupid as hell and making crap work that I have to re-do. So basically its like Im running the shop by myself again, but this time with all new machines Im unfamiliar with and a terribly inefficient setup. They hire another new employee, who basically gets assigned to the new guy on first shift.
So the last six months or so Ive just been doing terrible. Ive got everything learned now but the new double n00b employees still produce terribly low quality work that I frequently have to re-do. At this point I have basically refused to run 2 of the machines because I simply cant handle that much, its so inefficient and screwed up. These guys purposely break important tools/parts (including my own personal work items or items I made to do a job) or lose them, dont keep proper records or do maintainance, they hide things from me and mess with my personal stuff (Ive got a shelf in a storage cabinet at work) and theyve constantly made bad comments about me and left notes about how bad I am how bad a job I do blah blah blah. Whatever.

I dont care. But last week or so I get a note about me stealing/throwing away their tiems. I have never and will never stoop to their level. Acusing me of something like that is just wrong. On top of the fact that their crap is where they left it...they simply forgot. I reply with a note something like:
Blaming others for your own incompetence wont solve anything, get off the drugs.
Today I hear that Im being slapped with a harassment suit or something. My "boss" had a bunch of dripple to spew about it (they made photocopies of the note and passed them out to everyone)...Im so terrible blah blah blah this is completely unacceptable work behavier he cant beleive I havnt been fired yet (Ill certainly get suspened 2+ weeks). Its so horrific that HES offended. Somehow that note implies that I really meant some other derogatory terms and that mentioning or implying drug use is illegal blah blah. If I had a problem I should have consulted him or the other supervisors etc.
Dont know if Im gonna get any criminal charges yet or what, but I almost cant help laughing. Im a sarcastic person, its like the only thing I can do...its the best way I know how to show emotion or whatever. Its just how I am. I simply can not understand how this is harassment, and to me its extremely mild. I could have said so much more and done it in a really mean way, used some swear words or whatever. But no, I sarcastically said hey pay atention to your own crap and dont make stupid acusations. I was actually trying to make a funny while telling him to stop being stupid...so it wouldnt be as offensive.
Theres a big difference between "hey retard get off the drugs" and "you stupid dumfuck look for your own shit". I guess it doesnt translate to paper well, and I did it worng. My bad...still no reason to have a fucking cow and cry about it like this. And the fact that everyone is freaking out about it despite all the terrible crap they do. Man if I had been keeping records...
