Harassment at work...

As a "retard" you write well, not perfectly but very well. It was not a problem reading your thoughts. You write better than most people. As Fritzo implied, the way you describe your social reactions is common, I often feel similar to your insecurities. You have a lot of people pulling for you and offering very good advice. This should tell you something about yourself, you are definitely not as bad as you keep telling us you are.

Your company is discriminating against you and looking for reasons to fire you. You work well, yet they are not training you on the new machines while they are training your co-workers. Make sure not to write any of your opinions down at work. A verbal statement is one thing but your statement is forever when it has been written down on paper.

I do not advise looking for a new job, that could work against you. I do recommend finding an attorney, as many others have mentioned. Show him this thread, let him read it as we have done. The attorney will determine if a case is valid. The attorney also will most likely accept payment only if you win against your company. Make sure the attorney does not claim more than 33% of your winnings as payment. The attorney may also try to take advantage of you in this respect.

"Yeah I think that's what that's called. Can't believe you would call yourself a retard. You have like Asperger's or some shit. That's doesn't mean you are retarded."

Exactly, Im Elite 😀

And yeah Asperger's

Dude, you are a smart, articulate guy. If this is true, you've got to get out of there. You can find another job. Is your job covered by OSHA or something? Can you explain the incompetence with which you have been dealing all this time?

Edit: I kind of like everyone else's idea about getting lawyered up now too....

Well so far they haven't done anything else...I think after talking it over with their lawyers and reading the employee handbook they realized this could go both ways. As long as it doesnt progress from here I dont think Ill bother with a lawyer. Perhaps they are just waiting for a more oportune time...

All of this has helped me realize my situation better though, so I think I will make some changes. Im not exactly sure what to do first...Ive got really high expenses and there's no imediate or quick fix there. The easiest/best fix I think might be to buy a home, but I've never done that before and I think I'd need a good stable job to have the best chance at it.

Im thinking I ultimately want a new job, but I really dont think Ill get the same pay I have now...not right away. I really dont have any usefull skills I can market, and Im not sure what I could apply for. Ive worked in a warehouse by myself part time, Ive worked in an industrial building by myself full time. Thats it, neither of those gave me a new skill or taught me something usefull. And its been long enough from school that Ive forgotten a lot of basic stuff.

Im not trying to be "emo" or unusually hard on myself, just being realistic. I really dont know what I could do right now. I need a job thats kind of independant and doesnt require complex skills but still pays a fair ammount. I cant imagine any jobs like that.

You all mentioned that I write O.K. but I can't go all that fast. My brain starts skipping and messes up really bad, or maybe its my hands that cant keep up, I dont know. I just know I have taken classes and have been typing most of my life and I cant do any better. So I dont think that gets me anywhere...

I think thats whats making it hard to decide...I realize I should make some changes, but I dont know what or where to start. Maybe if I had a better idea what kind of work I could get I would have a better idea what I needed to do with the financial situation. Hmmm...

I think Ill start a new thread.

You currently work in a machine shop, correct? If so, you could take classes for setting up the machines. You might also do very well with CNC programming the machines. This is a well respected job that you may continue advancing within.

I have no problems letting people know Im retarded...if you have no idea theres an issue how can you deal with it? I dont mind if someone calls me a retard either. When my freind introduces me to someone new he always tells them Im retarded.

"Hey, this is my freind. Hes retarded"

Usually they laugh or something, but he informs them that hes being serious. I find it quite helpfull, there's less akwardness for both of us.

It sounds like you need to find a new job. You seem to think you are worth more and should be treated better. Never taking a sick day in nearly half a decade of work also usually isn't as good a thing as the employee thinks it is.

If someone is a senior or not they are usually your boss. If you find yourself getting reprimanded over it, then they are in the right.

Also as far as a ranting and raving boss, this is par for the course in a lot of blue collar jobs....esp anything plant or machine oriented where deaths can occur. There is no time to be 'diplomatic'...fuck I was a contractor on a steel plant job where we were doing the network, we received no different treatment if one of us was seen without even our ear plugs in. Get caught taking you hardhat off and you were escorted off the site with someone screaming bloody murder at you.

If you want to get a lawyer chances are you can solve your immediate short term financial problems...however; like most have found after these kinds of things many job applications can ask the questions to find out if you have sued a former employer and details.

While directly it's not supposed to keep you from getting a job, if you really believe that...good luck.

In many cases, a lawyer is not going to negotiate so much on his fees...lawsuit happy California you may find yourself doing better or if the case is definitely going to be a huge win...

Also that 33% usually doesn't include expenses anymore and in small claims the total the lawyer will get is more than 50% at times.

I'd only pick an attorney with references from people I know.

Ill consider the lawyer thing, but Im gonna wait and see what the verdict is at work. Ill try to explain myself to the biggest wigs and see what happens. Maybe Ill get lucky and all this will blow off. As was suggested though I might still look for a new job. If they do decide to push this thing...well Ill have to try to play it by ear (is it by ear?).

Please ask someone you trust to assist you. I'd hate to see this employer just ride you like a pony because they can.

If things blow over and you're still there. Change to the first shift with your actual boss. You shouldn't have to deal with the prick all this time.

tldr

next time you are alone with them yell and say stop touching me!!!

then tun out crying and lock yourself up in a bathroom till a crisis councelor shows up. Fake a panic attack and shit yourself..

boom

Speaking of OSHA if you are working a job where people occasionally die and you are being shafted on training, they would be very very interested in learning more.
