Just did it!

I was thinking of using a different coupon ($30 off $150), that way I'd at least get another 40 off.

I called them up and got Sheryl on the phone, she verified the deal with target and even SUGGESTED me to get some rubber ban or pens!!! I said: "... hmmmm, that's a good idea." Then she went ahead and asked me whether I might want to consider pens if I use pens more! Needless to say I got the pricematch AND the $40 off.

Now this is what I call customer service!!!

Staple's got another long term customer!

Two quick tips:
1) It's always fastest to place your Staples order over the phone because all web orders are NOT automated, they manually enter every order into their system by hand. Price match requests submitted online at Staples.com are also entered manually so by the time they enter your order (24-48 hours later) the competitor may have raised prices or is already out of stock. The benefits of calling in your order is it's the fastest and you get an immediate price match. The bad thing is you can't use an affiliate URL to make someone 4% or can't order through Dash.com to save yourself 4%.

To call in your order make sure to have the following ready:
The Staples SKU of the item(s) you want to order.
The coupon code you want to use.
Your billing/shipping addresses.
Your credit card information.
The competitor's web site name, SKU/Item # or phone number <--- this is for price matching.

To place your order call 1-800-3-STAPLE option 1

2) If you decide to order online at Staples.com you can price match two different ways:
Call 1-800-3-STAPLE option 2 have your Staples order number ready, provide them with the competitor's price, website/phone number and their SKU or item number. The competitor's product MUST match exactly with Staples this includes the right Handspring Visor Deluxe color. If Staples has the Ice but Target only has Graphite then your PM request will probably be DENIED unless you order the Graphite (assuming Staples has it in stock). You will know immediately if your PM request is approved and they will credit your credit card the difference.

You can also submit your price match request online but I still recommend doing it over the phone.

These Handspring Visor Deluxes will soon be out of stock at all Target stores, so time is of the essence!

Last but not least, when my sister called in her Staples price match the CSR rep DERRICK was super cool about it and didn't even verify that her local Target had that color in stock! He already knew that hundreds of people were getting the Handspring Visor Deluxe for $199 at Target stores so he issued her a $50 credit and the phone conversation was over with in 30 seconds flat!

Any other questions ask me here.

Ruri - All Target stores have the Handspring Visor Deluxe on sale for $199, the trick is finding one who has your color IN STOCK. Check the Target store locator call your local store press option 1, ask for computers and see if they have any in stock. If they do write down that persons name and the colors they have available. Then place your order at Staples.com If they don't have any in stock ask if they can verify stock at another store?

cupcake - Read my post to Ruri, same rules apply. I had a friend from NJ who works in NY he ordered his just fine, unfortunately I can't get a hold of him right now to ask exactly which NJ store he price matched against. I'm sure it really isn't that hard to pick up the phone and call a few stores? 5 minutes of your time will save you $50, it was worth it for me.

yeah.

i called all the stores in my area via the store locater already.

was hoping some one had a surefire #.

guess i will have to expand my area.

---

so i've called about 12 stores in the New England area and the ones that have then in stock claim they are 249.99.

is this regional? ugh.

I called every Target within 100 miles of me (northern Delaware). All were $249.99. But Compusa has a 10% off store special today where everything is 10% off, and staples.com DID honor that. Total was $185 with a $50 rebate or $135 final price. Not quite as good as $107, but I was planning on buying a PDA this weekend and this is still a lot less than I thought I'd spend.

I just tried to PM, called Staples, and the rep immediately said "We do not pricematch that item, corporate headquarters just issued a statement and thats our policy now."

i went to the closest target in colma, cali...and it was priced at $249, asked if there was a deal cuz i had a friend in northridge that got it on sale..she said all targets were the same so whats priced is whats priced.....

then i got home and decided to call the next closest target in san bruno, ca...said $249 but i asked about a sale price...she double checked and cofirmed the $199 sale price until the 31st of march.

i called staples to get a price match and she said the staples final price would be $199 after the rebate so they wouldnt match. im thinking they probably have a policy not to give the pricematch now cuz she new exactly what item i wanted to pm when i said "target".

im off to get one at target right now, figure its still $149 after the rebate so its all good. and im not sure but i think new customers who sign up for a target card get additional 10-15 percent off.

Hm well i ordered the visor again Blue this time.. ice was out of stock in my area Found a rep that would do it though.. now to cancel the palm.. hope it isn't much of a hassle. Only prob is the total still comes out to 130 Lousy ca taxes

BTW, 408 946-6791 has stock on blue and black, store 408 2677900 has stock on black Useful for anyone living in northern ca i guess. Called 2387800, got some idiot that didn't know what a visor was.. kept trying to tell me the palm m100 with the different faceplates was it He hung up on me when i tried to convince him that he was talking out of his ass.. sad.

W00H00!! Just ordered it...the Target at 310-895-1131 was outta stock, but the one at 310-677-2436 had the black one in stock. Anyways called in, had them price match Target at $199, then applied the $40 off 200 code. The CSR (Virigina who was VERY VERY VERY NICE!) then informed me I had to add something else, so I added a bag o' rubber bands (Item # 143297)to make it $201.08. $201.08 (Base price) - $40(coupon) + $12.89 (tax) = $173.97. Take off $50 for rebate and it'll be $123.97 :D (like everyone says...hurry up before theyr'e all outta stock!!)

Thanks a lot guys. This is a great deal.

199.99 : Visor Deluxe, pricematched with Target (even get the Blue one too, I like Blue)
+1.19 : Paper Clip Dispenser (The CSR suggested this one, hehehe, so nice of her)
+13.22 : TAX
-40$ off 200$
173.41
-50$ Rebate

123.41 - Busted out my AMEX Blue - order approved, will get it Thursday :)

One lesson - be nice to the CSR, and your order has to be over 200$ to get the 40$ off. It's not up the the CSR; it has to pass through the computer pricing system.

Target is clearing out the 2mb version, you might want to look for display models. No rebate, but I got one for $42.

loklee,

just call back and get a different csr and add some rubberbands or postits or a pack of pens, whatever you might need that is cheap to get your total over $200. don't give in to the csr's.

Hey Branded:

What did your 2MB version scan for? I'm assuming that the $42 is after you received some kind of % discount for buying the display?

Details, please. :)

Thanks!
