Does vB even support nesting quoting?

Of course, but it is disabled by default as it should be. Nested quoting is terrible.

Have you ever been on a vB board that had nested quoting enabled? I haven't. I do wonder if it is actually an option.

Are you sure the Howard on the beta forum isn't you? Do the Forgot Password thing and see if it sends an e-mail to the address in your profile for the current forums. That worked for me.

Woah, how is it that this topic still has the pinned icon but is no longer pinned? Is this a new add-on to the time warp technology?

Edit: NM it's back on top. That was weird. 😛

-Lose the images in posts and sigs.
-Lose the tags
-No custom avatars

Essentially, make it as much like it now as possible on the frontend while making the backend easier for you guys.

seriously, images in pics and sigs makes everything look trashy and ridiculous and obnoxious. i will definitely have mine turned off. pictar sigs are the *worst*

Is the inclusion of pics in posts and sigs set in stone, or do we still have a shot at lobbying against it?

There's no need for pics in sigs, but what's the problem with pics in posts? It's called progress. It's not 1992, and this isn't Usenet. Let the moderators deal with the people who use pics inappropriately.

Pinned = stuck at the top for a certain period of time. When that period of time runs out it drops just like a regular post, but it still has the pinned icon.

I don't see the big deal with sig pics. Any modern forum allows it, and only forum nazis disable it. It just has to be regulated and moderated like anything else.

Heck just add a maxwidth/maxheight attribute to the tag's css class.

If there are rules and that they're enforced it will work out fine.

I'd prefer no images in sigs, but I'd like them to be in posts. However, it would be nice if they would install that plugin SparkyJJO mentioned that resizes images so they aren't huge.

What benefit does allowing pics have? Why not just link to them like we do now? Aside from not liking it in general, and it being ripe for abuse by idiots, I don't know if we have enough moderators.

I just don't think it's worth the effort. There's nothing wrong with an all-text forum.

QFT, that's what makes this place great. Or maybe we're just old geezers.

Inline pictures can be helpful, especially on the technical forums. I've setup help steps for people on other forums using collected windows from a screenshot. It's nice seeing them inline, and easier to use imo. Things like "show your desktop" threads are better with inline pictures also. It can be abused for sure, but I haven't run into issues on the other forums I frequent that have inline pictures.

What use is there for inline pics at a resolution of something like 238672308967x1329075156103? I absolutely despise people that don't resize their pic to something manageable. Now if the board were to thumbnail a pic and let you inline it with a linkthru to the original, that'd be something.

Something like this?

That really messed with the forums when I posted it there. 😀

I can maybe see your point about the technical pictures, but desktop pics? A giant 1920x1200 picture in the middle of the thread would look horrible.

I just don't see how the benefit outweighs the abuse which will occur.

Not to mention the endless stream of meme-pic responses that are bound to be posted.
