We've still got work to do, but we'd like to get a test of some higher server load in here and see what happens.

it's a sandbox and nothing will be saved. there won't be any moderation per se, but our moderators will be testing out there tools and they may choose to practice on you if you give them a reason ;-)

Note: the sandbox is NSFW. You can disable inline images (and make it a bit safer for work, but no guarantees) by clicking on <User CP> (top left of the screen) <Edit Options> (left column, about the 10th thing down), and uncheck <Show Images> (about 2/3 of the way down). -Anandtech Moderator DrPizza

It's not the final skin. I'm not sure what the final one will look like, but I know that specific skin was just picked as a placeholder.

The inability to directly jump from forum to forum concerns me.

Here I can go from L&R to P&N to OT to PC games etc with one click.

When I am bored I can surf the forums looking for something interesting.

But on the beta you have to back out of one sub-group and then enter the next.

Will make surfing the forum harder and I would expect really cut down on the amount of traffic on the forum, especially the sub forums.

You may find people become more forum specific since moving from group to group is too much work.

My 2 cents.
 
I have a feeling there is an AT themed skin already made, but they chose not to share it until actual launch day.

There is/was. Those of us who broke in to the vB forum before this announcement got to see it. I think they're gonna tweak it a bit.

This is absolutely essential and is one of the reasons I :heart: AT forums.

And it'd be too difficult to keep the main forum page open and open the assorted forums in a different window/tab...why?

Yes, the current layout with all the forums listed in the sidebar is convenient...but not any big deal if we lose it.

Humans like convenience, why take a bus to the store if you can drive? 🙂

As long as they at minimum reproduce the same functionality as FT then I'm not too fussed as anything extra is a bonus. At least there will be a non standard VB theme (which all look like ass anyway).
