Why do people in England call a flashlight a torch? Even if it doesn't flash, it's a hell of a lot closer in accuracy than calling it a torch.

So... what's the deal with Chicken Tikka Masala? It's supposedly the UK's most popular dish, but it's considered Indian cuisine!

I think I have a bit of an advantage.. 21 years in India and 5 in the US. I think I can get along fine with people of UK, US and English part of Canada.

Actually it's not anymore, the UK's most popular dish is now a stir fry.

The whole indian / English curry thing Is something I don't know enough about it's confusing.

do you get offended if people ask you about Indian food?

I bullshit with the kid at the gas station all the time. He's 1st generation and seems to love talking about it.

I'd also appreciate any subjects that you can suggest for me to bring up with him. He's really cool but seems very shy.

If you are into Indian movies.. you can talk to him.. or ask him to suggest any good ones for you. Talk to him about culture, language. You can ask him to teach you some swear words in his native language.

Is that Bollywood?

I know nothing about it but there are plenty of streaming options. I have netflix, amazon, hbogo, maxgo and...there's one more I always forget about.

But Bollywood, right?

I don't care where it's from, as an Indian American born in New York, I love me some Chicken Tikka Masala. My favorite food.

what did you mean? Did you mean you ate Indian or you ate an Indian?

Do you not phrase it that way in America, like "I'm going for a chinese tonight" or "I had an indian last night" or "I'm going for an italian wan't to come?"....

lmfao no!

And I'm sorry if that's what you Brits do. I've never heard that before. I thought you made a typo. It sounded like you either ate an Indian for dinner or banged one.

Sorry man!

Ah, no worries dude, I imagine it originated in saying "Lets go for an italian meal"... then becomes shorter. "I really fancy an indian meal" / "an indian dish"

I'd have a feeling you would aswell. In all honesty if you say this stuff to someone with hair, wearing a shirt you'll be fine, say it to something with baseball hat and some tattoos and you won't.
