Well then your point was, well, pointless. The simple fact of being on a console doesn't change if someone thinks a game is boring or not, nor does if it has multiplayer.

I guess its better to have no point than to be wrong, so congrats.

I went and bought a 360 so that I could play this game (I was looking to buy one soon anyway)

You and a ton of other people.

I'm interested to see how much Halo 3 sales will affect 360 console sales. I know a bunch of people who waited for this game to buy the system. Maybe it will actually outsell the Wii for a month. Anyone think so?

Side note, now that you have a 360, get Bioshock. It's great. And get your gamertag on the Gamertag listing in the console forums (assuming you got Xbox live, which is absurd not to).

I don't get it. I thought Halo (for PC) was boring and repetitive as fvck. I've heard Halo 2 is more of the same, though I've not played it myself. What's the big deal with 3? Third time's a charm?

computer gamers can be really dense sometimes. The fun of halo is that for one it is on a console, second it has a great co-op option which most games dont have and third the deathmatch is pretty fun for most people. Its a community game, the single player is not where its at.

I hate to be the one to tell you....but online gaming was born on the PC. Ever heard of a little one called "counterstrike"? Or maybe Doom. You might have heard of Doom, it was ported to SNES, and Doom III was ported to XBox.

Just throwin' it out there.

Errr....your argument had absolutely nothing to do with with what jandrews said. He didn't claim that online gaming wasn't born on the PC. All he said was that the multi-player in Halo and Halo 2 is extremely fun, allowed co-op, and has a community.

I'm not going to argue semantics with you. He said Halo is fun because its on a console and multiplayer, and that PC gamers are really dense for not knowing this. Considering multiplayer FPS games are about 100x more successful on PC and consoles, I'd say he's pretty wrong in his assertation of PC gamers benig dense on that subject.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's asserting that PC gamers are dense because they don't realize how fun Halo multiplayer can be because most of them spend their time bashing the single-player campaign or the controls and have never really tried a multiplayer game on Live.

I dont understand that argument.

we are all nerds.....that much is true.

but you cant get any more nerdier than being a hardcore PC game fanboy.

I'll enjoy playing games on my big screen, on the couch with buddies having a few drinks playing Halo 3. You guys have fun sitting alone at a computer thinking your l33t.

We're both having fun right, so who cares.

Sure, I might even admit that PC games are better games in terms of technology/features, but in terms of fun.....i'd rather not be on the computer after i've been on one at work all day. Most of the people on ATOT work 8 hours a day on a computer, I'm sure the ones who have even a slight social life will tell you that the last thing they want to do at home is get on the computer.

Hooray for out of context quotes. Here's his actual quote:

So Halo 2 is far less than it could and should be in many ways because of that. It kills me to think of it. Even the multiplayer experience for Halo 2 is a pale shadow of what it could and should have been if we had gotten the timing of our schedule right. It?s astounding to me. I fucking cannot play Halo 2 multiplayer. I cannot do it. And that?s why I know Halo 3 is going to be so much better.

What he is saying is as the developer, he saw what else could have been in the multi-player and what was actually released was a shadow of that, so his disappointment in its potential is what keeps him from playing, not that the game is terrible. Plus, if anything that quote is saying that Halo 3 improves on all of Halo 2's downfalls.

Regardless, if the game is fun to you, who the hell cares what anyone thinks - be it the developer, a reviewer, or some douchebag on the internet?

Best PC FPS has way more options than Counter-Strike, which is a mod and not a standalone FPS. I don't think CS is a very good indicator of the genre at large. It would probably win most played, but getting stats on all the multiplayer games throughout the PC history is impossible which makes that title nearly worthless.

yea if you watch the bonus disc that came w/halo 2 limited edition, bungie clearly states that halo 2 is not close to being the finished product that they would have liked it to be but MS put them on this tight timeline.

and if you followed the h3 development updates on bungie.net you would know that halo 3 has everyting that bungie wanted to go into h3 when it was said and done, and that they are extremely happy w/the finished product.

Im really considering getting Halo 3 in the future (when MS makes a 360 that doesnt burn out in 5 months). I just dont want to hear from people that thought Halo 2 was great. It was terrible in comparison to Halo.

Just to make things clear, im not here just to bash halo or consoles in general. I was severely disappointed in Halo 2.

Actually, I said I would stop posting on that subject - why halo is so much more successful than other FPS games.

As for YOUR pointless point, I will continue on, if anything because it seems to bother you.

You don't have a point. The simple fact that its on a console and has multiplayer does NOT make it fun, it does not affect anything, otherwise there wouldn't be scores of bad console fps games that aren't successful. Your retort to the guy that said he played Halo on PC and thought it was boring and repetative did nothing to disprove or dispute his statement.

Its Halo 3...Halo brand name..nuff said.

How is the name selling games if the first two games were so shitty?

1 st halo was good
2nd halo - story sucked, mp was good
3nd halo - story's good and so is mp

Most people dont buy FPS's for the storyline. FPS's are eye candy and special effects. Play a mmorpg or epic game if you want story.

Halo 1 rocked because of the vehicles and pistol and because it was the first halo.
Halo 2 was darn near awesome as well because the fight was taken to earth with earth terrain, and because you could play as the arbiter and have stealth. You could also jump on enemy vehicles and throw the enemy off.
Halo 3 is good as well because you get different vehicles, can actually kill those spider tanks now, and have deployables--and the graphics aren't half bad either.

i got halo 2 and 3 solely for the single player

And on a side note - those of you citing Goldeneye as the best console FPS ever - I think nostalgia is influencing you more than you think. Play the game now, and then play a modern FPS and let me know how that goes. Especially with only 1 analog stick - it doesn't stand the test of time.
Well, you're simply wrong. Goldeneye was a fantastic FPS. How much fun would Duke 3D be in 2007? That doesn't mean it wasn't a great game at the time. You have to judge games in the context of their eras.

And honestly, in 10 years (that's how old Goldeneye is) do you think anybody will be playing Halo? Leave the "test of time" crap out of it.

Goldeneye was a great FPS - for its time.

In 10 years will people be playing Halo?

Well, let's see... Halo 2 was released November 9, 2004. 3 years later, it is still the most played online console game in the world. Don't think so? Quote:

Following the launch of the Xbox LIVE online gaming network in November 2002, gamers have spent over 2.3 billion hours on the network playing games online with their friends around the world. This is equal to 95 million days of gaming or over 260,000 years. With our top title, Halo 2, which is being played on both the Xbox and Xbox 360, gamers have spent over 710 million hours playing online with over a half a billion games played.

Top WW Xbox LIVE Titles on Xbox 360 to date:

1 Halo 2
2 Gears of War
3 Hexic HD
4 Call of Duty 2
5 Ghost Recon 3
6 Call Of Duty 3
7 Oblivion
8 PGR3
9 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
10 Perfect Dark Zero

I'd like to know how many people were still playing Goldeneye after 3 years? Answer - they didn't. They moved on to games like Perfect Dark. And once the PS2 and Gamecube came out, it was nonexistent.

Halo 2 is a LAST generation game for a LAST generation console, and it is STILL the most popular online console game on the planet.

Great. Get back to me in seven years. We'll see how active the Halo servers are.

I fail to see how I've lost, considering you still haven't proven a point other than "console games are fun cuz they're on consoles", my dog could come up with a more convincing argument than that, and it would probably consist of him slobbering on the keyboard and then crapping on the floor.
