'Hail Trump!': White Nationalists Salute the President Elect

"Video of an alt-right conference in Washington, D.C., where Trump’s victory was met with cheers and Nazi salutes."

“America was until this past generation a white country designed for ourselves and our posterity,” Spencer said. “It is our creation, it is our inheritance, and it belongs to us.”

The audience offered cheers, applause, and enthusiastic Nazi salutes.

The video:

Are we going to talk about this now? I'm going to refrain from calling out any particular members, but there are plenty who say that there haven't been any emboldened racists or fascists. And yet there is video proof.

EDIT: Just adding the NYT article in case that's your preferred flavor to dismiss: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/21/us/alt-right-salutes-donald-trump.html

"But now his tone changed as he began to tell the audience of more than 200 people, mostly young men, what they had been waiting to hear. He railed against Jews and, with a smile, quoted Nazi propaganda in the original German. America, he said, belonged to white people, whom he called the “children of the sun,” a race of conquerors and creators who had been marginalized but now, in the era of President-elect Donald J. Trump, were “awakening to their own identity.”

As he finished, several audience members had their arms outstretched in a Nazi salute. When Mr. Spencer, or perhaps another person standing near him at the front of the room — it was not clear who — shouted, “Heil the people! Heil victory,” the room shouted it back.

These are exultant times for the alt-right movement, which was little known until this year, when it embraced Mr. Trump’s campaign and he appeared to embrace it back. He chose as his campaign chairman Stephen K. Bannon, the media executive who ran the alt-right’s most prominent platform, Breitbart News, and then named him as a senior adviser and chief strategist."

They don't actually believe that anyway. They already know what the alt-right/bannon/breitbart are. Everybody does actually, there's just an unspoken rule in america that we don't talk about it anymore. That might make sense for the sake of the next generation if everyone's onboard with moving past ethnocentrism, but clearly that's no longer the case.

What happens to people like this that their minds become so polluted and distorted ? I understand many of them wind up born into it, this sort of thinking passed on to them from their parents like a disease, but not all of them. Some get indoctrinated into these cults somehow. Mostly I see a room full of pant pissing scared grown adults.

and Trump's chief strategist is a current supporter of these white nationalists

Trump's definition of making America great again is minorities feeling uncomfortable in their own country.

I don't know and I've been asking this myself for years. I've seen an up tick in this mentality about 10 years ago. Perfectly normal people who "turn" and are gradually more and more unreasonable and whome seem to be falling further and further into an alternative reality. There are at least three posters on this forum who I've seen change since I've been posting on P&N. One has completely lost it and the other is on his way while the third has become recluse and rarely posts in here.

ooh, so 200 racist nutjobs like the fact that Trump was elected. Oh, the horror, it's obviously his fault. We need to get rid of him immediately and replace him with the lying scumbag illary, that will fix everything. 🙄

It's far more than this one group. These people suddenly feel emboldened and empowered with Trump being elected. They are becoming louder and more aggressive. They see Trump as the source of their renewed power and focus.

Here's the thing. Trump railed against Obama for not saying "radical Islamist". You'll notice every time Trump or someone in his camp discusses these people they won't name them. No labels. Now why is it OK for Trump to refuse to identify a group but it's the end of the world if Obama doesn't? Does he want to be the face for these groups?

How about getting rid of that scumbag Bannon?? But I'm sure you are ok with an active white supremacist supporter in the Oval Office.

BTW - Head of (sanitized title) alt-right in a speech this week questioned if Jews are people.

You people are surely making America great again!

I certainly believe that these types of people were around and having these quaint little gatherings before and certainly long after this most recent election cycle. The problem is now they feel empowered and "legitimized" if you will. That gives them a megaphone they are not afraid to use.

I think it's overdue to drop the alt-right bullshit and call the neo-nazi movement for what it is, plainly and clearly..
BRA-FUCKING-VO!!!

Since when is that *his* problem? Black panthers and SJW racists were also emboldened with obummer as the president and they became louder and more aggressive. So what?

Identify what group exactly? You think Trump needs to come out and say something because some racist nutjobs decide they like the fact he's the president?

Apparently you guys haven't learned a whole lot over the past year. Just because you call him something derogatory doesn't mean it's so, nor does it mean that everyone should just reflexively revile him. Is there a legit reason why Bannon is not qualified for the position other than SJW whining?

Again, how is that Trump's problem? You can control who you support, you can't control what other people say.

So millions of people have expressed concerns that Trump ran on a message of division and hate, specifically as it impacted minorities. Now the groups whose entire reason for being is division and hate towards minorities have latched on to that and come out louder and far more visibly to push that agenda of division and hate and your thinking is that there is no reason for Trump, no for the President-Elect of the United States, to speak out against these people for the greater good? To take advantage of the opportunity to reassure all of those who have expressed concern about the future of the country?

The man is about to become the President. He has a duty and an obligation to assure the people that this is not what his administration will be about. All he has to do is condemn them and their message. That is what it is to be President.

Bannon himself said Breitbart is a platform for white supremacist groups. What part of that don't you get or refuse to acknowledge. While we are at it why not David Duke for HUD Secretary??

As long as Bannon is in the White House its Trump's problem. Next he must denounce the Alt-right by name. If he can waste his time bitching about the cast of Hamilton what wrong with that?

How the F can he do that with a straight face while Bannon's 10 ft down the hall in the White House?

At least he's consistent. He didn't denounce the support of them during the campaign either.
