Honda has the resources and the know-how; they lack the desire.

I've owned three Hondas in my time...great cars.

It's not that they don't have the desire, it's the law that says no new car sold in Japan can have more than 300hp. That's why you never see Japanese competitors to corvette, ferrari, etc. Anyway, the NSX, like ferrari, porsche, lamborghini, etc., is not about getting the best performance/dollar ratio. It's about the overall driving experience. If you want a light, mid-engined, nice looking sports car for under 100 grand, the NSX is pretty much your only option.

Its just an agreement. If you take say the R34 skyline, on paper it'll say around 280 hp, but dyno'ed....

I'm a Honda fanboi and even I wouldn't buy a NSX - there's so many better cars for far less money. Albeit, some maybe slightly slower, but much better.

Skylines are easier to "hide" the horsepower because they are turbo cars... Simply turn down the boost, and get by the 280hp factory restriction... Once you buy one and take it home, turn up the boost and you have a 400 hp car...

With a NA car this is much harder to accomplish and get by...

HAHA, they are playing "Won't get Fooled Again" about mid segment. So does this back up what all the anti NSX people have been saying or is Top Gear wrong too?

Because Honda has had just that long to put a more powerful engine in it.

DING DING DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner!! 😛

Why does no one ever say this about the corvette? I mean people sit here jacking off all day to the Z06, but it must suck sink 50k in a chevy. I mean atleast when you buy an NSX, you get acura service. With a corvette, you still gotta wait in line behind the cavalier in front of you to get service. 😛

the vette is reliable as hell, and most people consider it a bargain considering the tag on the cars that it beats. and acura service is NOT lexus service. toyota only picked the best dealers for lexus, honda did not pick the best dealers for acura. and with an nsx you still gotta wait in line behind the integra in front of you to get service

Z06 out accelerates, out brakes, and slaloms faster than the NSX.

NSX is a great car, but the bottom line, its not worth its price.
HAHAHAHA! The Vette even gets better gas mileage! 😀

Because... if you had read the thread... you would know that we're not talking about $70k US dollars, but $70k British pounds. Or $125k US dollars. A little difference there that I think is worth noting. You could buy 2 Z06's and have change left over for a truck to haul them both at that price... something I'd rather do than buy an NSX.

Wow that sucks. Is it import/export taxes, or just Chevy decided to jack the prices up there?

I think they just decided to jack up the prices here 🙁

Honda will never slap on a drastically bigger engine with more power in an existing car... i don't think that's their philosophy.

If I had read the thread? I read it just fine, maybe if everyone else had THOUGHT about the fact that most of us live in the US and this argument is nothing more than a hypothetical. None of you have mentioned how much a Z06 costs in britain.

Reliable as hell huh? Like a knock huh? Do you know anyone who has owned one? I have and they say it's a garbage car.

i like to use something a bit more statisically worthwhile than a bitch and moan site to get my reliabilty ratings, thanks. no, its not a honda, but you can still get two of them for the price of an nsx and slap the nsx silly. one nsx every 6 years, or a new vette every 3. i know which i'd choose.

uhhh, sure ok. Why don't you look and tell me what consumer reports says about the vette.

"slap the nsx silly" huh? Unless this is a track only car, you are almost never going to see the differences measured in that edmunds comparo. And then you have live with that ghetto fisher price of an interior they put in corvettes.

I'd buy an elise myself before I bought a corvette.

C6 Vette > NSX

And the interior of the NSX isn't all that great to begin with. Unless you like late 80's Honda build quality, tolerances and design (granted it's still better than the C5's interior😛).

There is no horespower-limiting law in Japan. A while back there was a "gentlemen's agreement" that no car would be made with more than 280hp. However, Toyota ignored it with the Supra, Nissan ignored it with the Skyline GT-R, and Mitsubishi ignored it with the LanEvos (spefically Evo VI). All of those cars claimed 280hp, but dyno'd at higher horsepower levels stock. It just shows how little the gentlemen's agreement actually meant to the manufacturers.

I love the NSX.. only Honda I truly really like!

Id buy one if I had the scratch.... but that's a lot of scratch so I probably won't ever buy one 😛

gorgeous car though.

Considering the C6 will be out at the same time as the new NSX, maybe you should wait before opening your mouth.

I had an 89 accord and although the interior styling is dated, the interior quality is still better than many new GM cars.
