Haha! TopGear Rips the "Honda" NSX

"It costs 70 grand...and no one's gonna pay that much, for a Honda"

DING DING DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner!! 😛

If Honda stopped screwing around and put a small, 400-horse, 8-cylinder that revved to about 9K rpm (ala Ferrarri) plenty of people would buy a $70K Honda.

Honda has the resources and the know-how; they lack the desire.

I've owned three Hondas in my time...great cars.

The question comes to mind: why does Honda bother?

A company AFRAID of making anything more than a V6 has NO business in that market.

It's their "Halo Car" like the Corvette is to GM. But I do agree with you; "why bother?" If you're not going to do it right, or at least be competitive, don't bother. The NSX is nice looking. That's it. It gets it's ass whooped by cars 1/2 it's price.

STEP AWAY FROM THE NSX!

😀

Worst bang for the buck "supercar" ever. Very nice car, but for its price. no thanks.

Even though i wouldn't buy one with my own money, I'd still hit it.

Agreed on all accounts, but the Corvette is actually a GOOD car. Espically for its price. Best bang for the buck IMO.

Id certainly take one if it were given to me. The new one's headlights suck IMO. And yes of course it costs way too much!!

You said exactly what I was going to say before I said it. I want my two minutes back. 😉

I must have missed the segment where he described what's wrong with the car's performance. He didn't just dismiss the car cuz he didn't like the shape of the gear knob, did he?

The 650hp C5-R version is sweet though.

The NSX came out in what...1990?? And they've tweaked the engine once in that whole timespan? Wasn't this the first application of variable valve timing and lift control in any production vehicle...and now its standard in every Civic? Face it, the car was revolutionary...fourteen years ago!!! This is the car the Supra wanted to be, and even then it needed twin blowers to even come close.

The replacement is long overdue, and I pray to God that whatever hybrid powerplant they're trying to sell spanks any V8 engined car under $80,000 because otherwise it just won't be worth it.

COMPLETELY agree.

 for 400HP, 8cylinder, 9000RPM redline Honda engines! 😀

well, I agree with the conclusion, but his argument was a little um non existant? The only thing I heard him knock about the car was it's a Honda for 70 grand, and the mesh surrounding the gear knob and the retractable radio antenna.

Otherwise he said it handles great and has grip like no other. It sounds like he likes the car

Supra can outbrake an NSX and pulled a higher G in the skidpad. Who's trying to be who?
