Had to put my dog down this morning

She had a degenerative disease that was paralyzing her back legs and she was finally bad enough that we had to have her euthanized. 🙁 Cairo was a five year old Great Dane; we've had she and her sister since they were 8 weeks old. Athens, our other Dane, is going to miss her - they'd play together, use each other for doggie pillows, and (ew) clean out each others' ears. I don't have a picture of her on this computer but the dog on the right looks a lot like her.

My poor puppy. But she can run again now.
 
Thanks guys. This looks a lot like our black Great Dane, Athens, except that Athens isn't so bony. You can see how much Danes like to cuddle. She's gonna be all lonely.

I first got my dog when I was 8 years old, a collie/shepard. A few years ago we had to do the humane thing and put him down, he had cataracs and arthritis, and very little bladder control. It was a few days before my 24th birthday. It was the saddest day of my life up til then. I don't care what anyone says, pets are members of your family, and you're definately at a loss when it's their time to go. To this day, his picture is framed on my mantle. I know what you're going through, I've been there. My condolences.
 
that sucks the big one...another reason not to have a big pet. goldfish is fine, but even that gets messy with diseases and what not 🙁
 
I feel for you. We had to put our rescue greyhound down about this time last year. First pet that was "mine" I ever had to make that decision for. 🙁

I know exactly how it feels to lose a young dog. But if you are truly a dog lover, I suggest you ease the pain by getting a new dog when you can and start building another friendship with it. That helped me.
 
I'm sorry for your loss. I as well lost my best dog a few tears ago. Not only was she the best hunting dog I ever owned, after I retired her from hunting she became the best house dog. My wife, son, and myself still miss her alot even after three years. She developed lymp node cancer and nothing could be done to save her, money wasn't even a issue. TO this day I have a hard time getting close to another dog.

Ahhh, I know how that feels...I put my 9 year old dog to sleep about 4 months ago...It was so sad. He was the funniest looking thing, but he was the most gentle, nicest dog...I miss 'im. 🙁
