They're great dogs, aren't they? But big=shorter lifespans.
 
I'm sorry for your loss! 🙁 We put our elder dog down a few months ago - he just wasn't doing too well at all. It's hard - like losing a member of your family. But the dog is in a better place now. Have a good cry, share some stories and some laughs with your friends and family. Time will heal all wounds 🙂

On the contrary, another reason to have a large pet. They become your best friend, especially dogs. No matter how terrible my day has been, no matter how crappy I've acted or felt, they will always try to make you feel happy. My dog Clyde loves to run, and loves to play, he's the best stress reliever in the world. Large pets are wonderful to have.
