So it wouldn't bother you if they were parked in your driveway or out front of your house doing the exact same thing?
My post record on drug legalization stands on its own. Pot doesn't bother me, but that doesn't mean I'll turn a blind eye if I catch people smoking up around my home or place of work. Even if it were legal I doubt it would ever be legal to toke behind the wheel or in public.

Why are you so threatened by it? It's not like they are going to jump out of their car afterwards and run around like wild men and rape all the women. You fear that which you dont understand.

Yea, thanks Aristotle....

I could care less if someone smokes pot in their own home... BUT, it's against the law to smoke it in public... just like drinking... I don't understand why people can't understand this concept... smoke'em if ya got'em... but do it in your own house, not on my, or public, property. Save the police the hassle of hauling your dumbass to the station/court for doing something you're bloody smart enough to understand is a crime, as it currently stands..

christ, but some people are dense..

I fully agree with you. I don't care if someone smokes pot, but if I go into a nice restaurant, I dont want to have to explain to my son why the guy next to us smells like burning carpet. If these guys were smoking in the parking lot, its obvious that they use it on a daily basis, probably more than a few times a day. Getting arrested could be the best thing for these guys. I used to smoke a lot of pot, then I got arrested and got some pretty serious charges pressed against me. Very soon after that my son came along and I realized that there are better things in life than sitting in a room smoking pot.

Good job TallBill, I hope you made a positive difference in those guy's lives.

What about all the YAGT that start up because a girl looked at him? I think that's more pathetic than this thread.

I wonder how many potheads in this thread would be screaming if he had only been drinking the alcohol, and you said you had seen him and did nothing?

The funny thing is that he will get into more trouble over the open container than he will with the pot.

If they smoked it at home, I could care less. If they smoked at the parking lot of my business, then I care.

Pretty uncool.

I imagine if you asked them to leave they would have without a scene. Instead you had to be a stool pidgeon and cost them thousands of dollars in legal fees. BTW, I don't smoke pot.

If it does cost them thousands of dollars in legal fees they will only have themselves to blame. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. I don't care what anyone's opinion of pot is.....it is an illegal substance and against the law. If you choose to partake you are breaking the law and subject yourself to the consequences. I don't think speeding is that big of a deal and I do it on a fairly regular basis but I am man enough to take my medicine when I am caught since it is against the law so I think all the dopeheads should do the same.

Wah. I might care except it's not like they don't know that having an open container in the car is illegal. I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep tonite knowing this happened. Not like pot is 10 cents an ounce, anyway. Maybe they can lay off the bud for a couple weeks to help defray their legal fees.

You did the right thing, Bill. You said you're an MP, so do you plan on being an LEO if and when you leave the military?

Regardless of what you think is acceptable or not, face it guys.

Pot is illegal and drinking is not. Potsmokers out there can bitch and whine all they want but you have no ground to stand on. The dumbasses smoked up in his business and got arrrested. TallBill did the right thing.

Stop whining and come back when marijuana becomes legalized.

Sorry, but I think that was lame.

Someone drunk getting in the car - yes. Someone flashing a weapon, or acting dangerously - yes. But for hitting a joint before going into a restaurant? Please...

Lame or not, smoking pot is illegal. Smoking pot in public is stupid. TallBill did the right thing, and I salute him, even if he's an MP.

LoL, this thread got WAY more response then expected. Anywho, if i saw someone drinking in their car in the parking lot, and ready to drive, i woulda called the cops just as quick. Its not an especially rowdy bar, so we really dont have many drunks that leave. Most of the town drunks already have DIU's and walk home. All the out of town people seem to act a bit more responsible in planning a drive home. Its not a bar bar.. just a supplement to a fine restaurant.

Anyways, I wasn't posting this to be a hero, or say pot is bad, or crime is bad, or anything. Its an off topic forum, and i thought i'd spark some intrest.. 90 some posts in the thread means that something went right.

P.S. - Nothing wrong with being an MP :p Any day now i'll find out my permanent duty station.

How uncool would it be if he asked them to leave, knowing that they had been drinking and smoking pot, and they drive off and hit a school bus? Or a girl on a bike? Or an old lady crossing the street?

Maybe when you get out you can be a rent-A-cop. Get yourself one of the old cop cars, outfit it with lights, and drive around and hope the girls think your cool.
