Had a Five Guys Burger yesterday...

I'm gonna take a gamble and say that the negative reviews from 5guys is probably due to the fact that they are franchised and the quality is not as consistent as it should be, whereas InO does not franchise.

I don't understand the In-N-Out love, it just tasted like a Big Mac when I had it. /shrug

That's one hell of a Big Mac or one sloppy worker at In-N-Out.

five guys on the other hand uses the lowest of low grade beef, cooks the hell out of it and then soaks the overcooked piece of beef and the bun back in all the fat drippings so it's ultra greasy and absolutely disgusting.

I *LOVE* burgers, but what 5 guys sells is not fit for human consumption.

I can only hope so, because the one near me is awful. If they are all that way then there is something wrong with all the people that like them.

I've only been to the In-N-Out at the Wharf in San Francisco and it was ok, as I stated above.

The only Five Guys I've been to is up here in North Vancouver and I've been there a few times with different people each time and we all really enjoyed the burgers, as they tasted closer to homemade to all of us.

Different strokes I guess.

Or just different management / quality control. It's not that it just wasn't to my preferences, it was just the worst tasting burger I've ever had. There's gotta be something wrong with the one in Richmond, VA. If I'm ever near a different one I'll give it a shot, but I won't be going back to that one.

Hmm, good point. That does sound off, just like the OP's experience. I've never had one like that.

Thanks guys. Now I learned there is a 5 guys less than a mile away from me. Will give it a try. Love me a good burger.

I'm glad I don't live near the 5 Guys you eat at...

Had 5 Guy burgers at two locations. Burger was moist and tasty; nice to have choice of so many toppings. On the other hand, the buns are subpar, they use yellow mustard (really?), and there are NO SHAKES! (unforgivable!)

Have yet to try In-N-Out. None that I know of in the Northwest...

Shake Shack > In/Out > Wendy's > Burger King > McDonalds > 5 guys

I've had 5 Guys in FL, VA (Reston, Falls Church, and DC), and NY. They suck.

Agree. Any burger past medium is automatic fail.
as much as I love my steaks medium rare, I really dont like the texture of ground beef if it isnt cooked through. I find it really, really unpleasant

/likes a greasy cheeseburger, preferably medium-well

If I go to a nice restaurant, I'll always get my burgers medium.

Power, I agree on that.

The things that could help them a lot would be:

More than just American cheese.
GRILL your Jalapenos! Raw is harsh!
KEISER ROLLS!!!! Enough with the shoprite sesame seed specials!!!!

That's about it.

I DO love, however, that they are one of the chains that has MALT VINEGAR available for the fries. I tried that about 10 years ago while skiing in Canada and I have eaten them like that almost always ever since (Salt and Vinegar for FTW)

Even though this thread gets made every month, you gotta admit it's a good topic. People are wayyyyy one side or the other, no middle group (or very little).

Maybe Five Guys is a lot different one state to another. But I've really liked In-N-Out no matter what state it's in.

In-n-Out all the way!

Someone always has to do this, compare a tiny burger joint with one or two locations to a nationwide joint.

Anywho Five Guys isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. In-N-Out fo life yo!!!!

OK, so I'll compare 5 guys to a nationwide chain to make you happy.

5 guys is better than McDonalds 🙄

I was mainly pointing out Juicy Burger because their shops actually look like a larger company (very corporate chain looking). I would be surprised if they don't start popping up all over the northeast. It doesn't look anything like a mom and pop neighborhood burger joint, if that is what you are thinking. The have online ordering and computer screens for customers to use all over the counter.

Every company starts with 1 or 2 locations, just because a place is nationwide doesn't mean they are any better than the start-ups.

Yeppers.

I have not been, but They say it is good.

I wonder what They do for a living. I hear a lot about They.

They must be fat with all the eating They does...... But then again, They does a lot of things, so maybe They aren't in that bad a condition.

Well, that's what they say.

ask to get your jalapenos grilled... they will do it.
their bread isnt cheap... try the bread once by itself and you willl see it is different than just plain bread.
