Had a Five Guys Burger yesterday...

It sucked the big one. The patties (either they break up one patty into 2 halves and stack them on top of each other to make it look taller or the cook messed up it my patty) were thin, DRY, borderline overcooked, and tasteless. Is this their signature, overcooked patties?? With all the hype, I was extremely disappointed, and will never go back. Their fries were just OK, nothing to rave about, I did not get the Cajun style kind. Am I the only person that don't like their burgers??

You should have complained,..

sounds like your 5 guys needs new management.. all the other ones Ive been to including the one we ate at last night do not have this issue at all.

burgers are great moist and cooked perfectly and always tasty.

Nice try, undercover In n' Out manager!

Seriously though, best burger I've ever had, but their fries leave a lot to be desired, wasn't a fan of the cajun seasoning either.

I agree with OP. Been there twice, once with family and once with friends. Both times it was absolute shit and everyone with me agreed.

Still have to go there (5Guys), but to date the best fast food burgers I've had come from Jack's.

thanks for the double post ATOT!

We have a new partnership with McDonalds. If you have a doublepost you win a free McDouble cheeseburger.

(ok for the three of you that don't realize that was a joke....THAT WAS A JOKE)

I have been to five guys twice. the first time was how the OP stated. i was not happy with the burger (both times i got it to go). The 2nd time (i always give a place 3 times before i rule them out) the burger was really good. it was juicy and yummy.

will hit it a 3rd time wensday!

The last time I was in Five Guys, I noticed that you can order online and it's supposedly good for all restaurants. It might be helpful to avoid the long lunchtime wait.

Been at least a half dozen times to the one in Hoboken. Was always a sloppy tasty burger (although I wish they had another cheese besides "yellow").

The fries were always great, and the fact that they pile on extra in the bag for you is a nice touch.

Went twice to one in the West Village (Varick?) and they were really good there too.

Went twice to a place in, I think it was Clifton (just north of Rutherford on 17N). It was decent there. The fries were a little less fresh, but the burgers were again decent.

For a chain, it is one of the best I have been to so far. I have not tried Smash yet, and I still want to go into the city and try out the Shake Shack......

I've been to about 5 different Five Guys in the Raleigh area. I've never been to one where the burger isn't nice and juicy. Best chain burgers I've ever had (and yes I've had In n Out, used to live in California).

While I don't think that they're horrible, they're also not great and certainly not worth the money. Seriously a cheeseburger, regular fries, and regular drink is around 11 dollars. You can go to a proper steakhouse and get a burger made to your specifications for that much money. And by the way the fries are the worst that I've ever eaten.

I went to my first 5 Guys place last week. Wasn't really all that impressed either. Better than McD's and the standard fare, but nothing so amazing that I'll crave it or go out of my way to eat there.

We just got some 5 guys here and it's okay. In full disclosure--I'm an In-N-Out fan, and 5 Guys is an okay alternative. My first experience was like the OP's with a deflated patty and just okay fries.
