Nah, it's not a pay to win game.

Those people are whiny cry babies. What they're complaining about is that guns and ammo can RARELY be found in the airdrops. You get airdrops by buying the beacon in the in-game story for real world money.

What these whiny cry babies don't get is that the air drops don't guarantee you anything. You're not even guaranteed to RECEIVE the air drop. A big huge loud slow plane comes flying in and drops a huge crate with a parachute. The crate has lights on it that can be seen for miles and it drops REALLY slowly.

Basically, it's a big lighthouse going COME OVER HERE AND GET FREE STUFF THAT THIS POOR SAP PAID REAL MONEY FOR!!! I'M OVER HERE!!! COME GET MEEEEE!!!

So, you pay for an air drop, you call it in, it takes forever to arrive giving other players plenty of time to spot it and follow the plane and then follow the well-lit drop to the ground where they KILL YOU and take the stuff that you paid for.

Even if you do manage to get to the crate first, you have to loot it which takes time and makes you vulnerable while you do it.

The risk versus reward is very steep with air drops, and then factor in how rare the weapons are. Ammo is even more rare than the guns themselves.

I've already covered the login issues which seem to have been fixed several hours ago.

I've been playing for about 4 hours, having a good time exploring the map and game mechanics.

Zombie AI needs ... a lot of work. Lol. Hit detection could use some work, but it works for the most part.

The game seems to be largely stable right now, but I've had two crash-to-desktops in that 4 hour period and I'm not sure what I did to cause it or what was occurring to cause it.

Remember, it's an alpha.

The next major update they're going to focus on is loot spawn rate, if I'm reading this junk correctly.

Sorry, you are full of crap. I can vouch that every airdrop I have seen thus far has contained guns and ammo.

Company pulled a bait and switch, simple as that.

Update: And now the company wants to change it to make it rare lol

Judging by the plethora of people saying the same thing, I will have to agree. You see the P2W aspect in some games, but there are way too many people now commenting on it. Its probably the largest segment of any types of comments I've heard about this game.

Pay to win AND you have to support this crap with paid alpha? Paid early access games can die in a f***ing atomic fireball.

You guys are not paying attention, stop copy and pasting a story in head and believing it.

It has already been said that airdrops are BUGGED currently and this is not the case. You can tell by watching streamers and seeing the mechanics are not even correct. lol

Stop spreading FUD.

Lots of mechanics are still bugged in game, being it is Alpha. Zombies don't react to sounds yet, zombies don't react much at all unless you are right on top of them. Lots of reciepes are bugged atm.

Airdrops work differently that what you are seeing, they are suppose to drop randomly on map, the drop is suppose to attract a HORDE of zombies so its not easy to you to get to, and others can get to it before you. What is happening right now is they are dropping right on persons head, no zombies.

I played for about 1 minute and then had a display driver crash. I will probably mess with this in a week or 2 when they have a few more things ironed out.

seems like links to dev posts about this would be a good idea.

The one photo in a previous link shows the dev notes saying that they were adding guns and ammo to them. there was also a link to one of the devs on twitter that says if you don't like p2w then don't play their game.

are those fake?

you're saying the airdrops are random and currently bugged that they drop on people's head and don't attract zombies. what about them containing guns and ammo? What about them being previously stated as having to be bought with real money?

are all those lies as well?

Problem is, SOE was dumb enough not to have separate authentication servers for their games. When the H1Z1 flood hit, every single SOE game login auth request became FUBAR and nobody already logged in or wanting to change zones in certain other games had any success.

This is a problem. I can't log in to EQ1 nor PS2, and I'm an all access member.

Calm down, Francis.

The guns are SUPPOSED to be rare. They're not as rare, turns out, as they want them to be, so they're going to patch this morning or afternoon. The patch will include quite a few big fixes and one of them is to make guns as rare as they were intended to be.

This is the first day of Alpha.

Your conspiracy theory nonsense has you running around like a chicken with your head cut off screaming at the top of your lungs about something that's getting fixed. Chill the F out.

This is exactly what drives this game away from pay to win. Sure, you can pay to try to win, but there's no guarantee that you'll even live, let alone win.

I'm tired of this crap, because it never works out like that. Take PS2 for example. It's not P2W except for the part where you can gain certs 400% faster and have implants that offer you a small direct advantage. Not to mention certain guns will directly benefit you depending on your play style as opposed to being "just a side grade".

Just charge me $5-$10 a month, and if the game is that good, I will pay to play it. Really getting tired of this, especially from SOE.

Games that are F2P end up failing. Because if there isn't incentive to spend money, money will not be spent. The only way to do it is to bring in the P2W element. Just watch - after they tweak this and people stop calling in air drops because they are too difficult to secure and guarantee said items, they will implement something else. Once you become okay with this, it will never end. They did this crap non-stop in PS2. Introduce OP weapon and nerf a few months later, only to have it replaced with new OP weapon, and repeat cycle.

I have to say that SOEs other recent game (planetside 2) looks pretty nce. I've put 500 hours into it and still enjoy it.

Forgelight is a very nice engine.

Yikes... managed to play for about an hour today but looks like I need to give it some time before I try again. Players and zombies were desyching all over the place, loot containers were lagged in such that it would take 10 seconds or so once you walked up to something before it popped up with the option to loot it, then another 10 seconds before the little timer pops up where you are searching it then it finally opens. Of course, everything was empty anyway! I found a backpack on the floor of the supermarket and that's all.

Couldnt fight zombies or players because of the desynch but I guess thats ok since all I could fight with were my fists.

So there's really nothing to play here right now, gotta wait for them to fix the lag and loot.

You don't seem to understand why people are upset. It's not about how RARE something may be, it's the fact that it's there at all.

This isn't Planetside 2. This is H1Z1. It doesn't matter what's happened in PS2. That's that game, this is this game and none of that has started in this game.

Oh, I understand. It's simply not a rational complaint. I have yet to hear any valid complaint about guns being in air drops that isn't easily countered. I'm open to hearing more, if you've got some other one that hasn't already been addressed.
